02 sensor tech question

I posted this question on the 3rdgen forum but never got a straight answer...
The o2 sensor on my 90 SE i think is bad. I pulled up a article on Mitchel on Demand saying that a 'lazy' o2 sensor can cause rough idle and surging while under constant throttle(which my car does). I hooked up a voltmeter to the white wire from the 02 sensor and, other 02's iv checked, the voltage jumps from low to high. Mine was reading ~.245 constant. Car was warmed up.
Is the 02 fried? or is this an accurate test?
Car has 176k on it, and i dont know any history of it past 170k(when i got it).

a couple things...i dunno much about the technical side of our O2's but here's the deal...the car has 176k and you have no clue about the history...a bad O2 will cause the rough idle, surging and horrible gas mileage....my advise to you would be to change it for a couple reasons...the main one is that the car has a lot of miles on it and you'll at least know that the car has a good O2 on it...i had similar problems like you and i swapped mine out last weekend....reset the ECU and problem has been resolved...

Re: Ok...
did u read my response on the 3rd gen??
when it warmed up the voltage should be above 1V.
so yeah your O2 is prob shot. also do what i recommended on the other post.
good luck
