oil change and now I have Alternator Whine!!!!!%^@#
yea I know oil change has nothing to do with the alternator but its just funny that the day after I go to nissan for oil, my alternator starts to act up- make u wonder huh?
anyways, The car started up in the morning like normal then after 5 min of driving, my alternator lets out this weird humming sound (sounds exactly like how a 5speed sounds when you reverse) The sound is pretty loud and happends even at idle now and when you accelerate it still remains only it gets higher pitched as rpms increase. I did a search and read many things about how alot of 97's(like mine) have this problem and also narrowed it down to either the Voltage regulator or the bearings itelf. Anyone have other suggestions?
Im not 100% shure thats what it is but it has to be somewhere in the belt/alternator region.
Also a question, would a bad alternator be the cause of slow engine revving? I dont know if its in my head or not but I could have swore that my engine revved up faster before. Also, after revving, the rpms would dip about 500 and go back to normal 700. Would a bad alternator cause this due to the extra load the engine has to turn, causing it to slow down the revs?
Sorry for the long post but this is bothering me enough
oh yea, check out Iilac's new mods we did all day today
