whistling sound from CAI

I get a whistling sound at certain RPM's. I have a Frankencar intake. Any ideas what this is?

It's normal. It's caused by the air going thru the throttle body when the butterfly valve is partly open. You'll hear it with any intake,JWT,Stilen,CAI etc. The stock box really isolates the "air rushing in" sounds of the intake system.

I understand the air sound (which is kindov cool), but this sound is a very high pitch, almost like metal to metal squeal

Mine sounds *slightly* like a turbo spooling up. My friend w/ a 3000GT VR4 tells me that those are my "twin turbos" spooling He actually think it sounds cool.

Yeah, I had a PRCAI, I convertred to the hybrid. Every sound the CAI made was the coolest, WOT, hissing spool up, just like you said.

The hybird makes all the sounds, but it just doesn't sound as good.

common occurence.. does that on my WSP intake too.

the most fun part is after ripping an Audi 2.8 to shreds (last night's fun!), he pulles up next to me.. "DUDE! how did your turbo install?"

"Turbo? what turbo? it's not in yet?"

"What you mean not YET?! I can hear it spooling up!"

"No, that's just my intake."

"Bullshi!! I heard it! no way you could take me without a turbo anyway!"

"Then your car is slower than you thought, cause all I've got is a CAI."

then I pulled into a parking lot and showed him. he wasn't happy.

"I'll race you again next week when I get my NOS installed.."

heheheh
