Had it put on yesterday (Wednesday)and had the throw out bearing and slave cylinder replaced. The engagement is feather light it is just killing me to baby it. I have not gon above 3500 rpms for the last 120 miles it is amazing how quiet and intake is when you never go WOT.

How is the 5th gen Muffler I am sure your car is quieter any other differences?

yeah that damn humm at idle is gone!!! it is quiet ridding around town. I still have the raspy sound when i rev it not in gear.

I really like it. Back to the dyno to see if i lost any HP.

No real difference other than the silence

just wait, break the clutch in and then

even if the autos were faster i still love my 5spd; given the oppourtunity i would take it over a modded auto and a stock 5spd. Its just so much more fun to drive. However , if i had a choice between an m3 w/smg or and m3 w/6spd.......thats a tough one.

5 speeds will always be faster than an auto given equal mods. Manual trannies put more hp to the wheels and weigh less, giving a superior hp/lbs ratio. Even a stock 5 speed will give a Modded I/Y/E Auto a good run for its money.

I would sorta agree with that. Granted the trannies are lighter but I dont think I have seen any car that has the same number of gears in manual and auto format. Even some 6 speeds have a 4 speed manual counterpart.

With manuals:
Better launch control
Different gear ratios

Those being equal an auto would easily win. Ever figure out why most F1 cars today are fully auto or at least only require a down shifter? Gotta love those launch control buttons.

Since the beginning of this thread it occured to me that it all depends on the driver. Good 5-Speed drivers will generally kick butt, while newbies or "granny-shifters" (haha j/k) will lag a bit.

Anyway, great thread. Makes me wonder about the auto I passed down to my sister. Oh well, 5-speed is just so much fun

Someone help me out. On the second run, when the camera car rolled down its rear window, and bags' white auto max was approaching, what was the sound it made as it passed? Sounded VERY interesting

sounds like a car with a ypipe and cat back exhaust to me

I do have a 2001 maxima se muffler, BUT my car is still kinda loud. If your refering to any hidden mod, NOS or anything, else try again.

I clearly stated what my mods were in the first thread.

Gotta love it!

Notice I did NOT say I can beat ALL 5 spds.

The wht max is mine the 97 se auto. Mods are, CAI,Y-pipe,Hi flow cat, after market b-pipe, stock 2001 SE muffler

The other max is a 97 se 5 spd. Modded with a y-pipe and I can't remember if it has a cat back exhaust or not. BUT it DOES have STOCK intake.

SO yes I do have a slight advantage. BTW do not ask me who the owner is, I did not ask him if I could post this.

Also my server will slow down when the 300 people d/l it. PLEASE RIGHT CLICK AND SAVE AS

Racing is stupid and Illegal. Don't do it. You might kill someone. Do NOT try this. I will not be held liable for somone jumping off the bridge with me.

RACE

Ok, since I have access to a fully modded auto and a bone stock 5 speed. Both 92 SE's. I have raced from a dead stop as you see in the video, 25,30,35,40,45mph rolls, and now today tried it at a dead even 65mph up to 105ish. NO CONTEST! The auto falls victim to the stock 5 speed by about 5-6 cars up to 105mph. The 5 speed was in 3rd the whole time. There is no way a auto is as fast as a 5 speed, well if the 5 speed driver is an idiot and doesnt deserve to drive a 5 speed.

Try again.... Maybe you can't, but I can.

BTW try racing him from about 90-130 or so and see what the outcome is.

But you can't win them all. If you could it would give you nothing to AIM for.

geez, an auto beats a five speed ON TAPE, and there are still some people saying it can't be done. While I agree that the general rule of thumb is that five speeds are faster, autotragics do have their sweet spots.

Also sounds stupid, but if your car is not up to snuff, ie.. fuel filter, plugs, wires, etc.., your down from the get go before you even start.

And yes KLoWnPR109 said it best, we do have our sweet spots.

BTW next time your in bumper to bumper traffic look around at the 5 spd drivers who can do anything but shift while you can drink a coke , or mess with the radio..

AS LONG AS YOU PAY ATTENTION to the road.

Good thing about the 5 speed is you can take 1st up to like 35-40mph, so you can just push the clutch in as you come to a stop, and let it out as you go. workin the clutch.
