97 auto VS 97 5 spd .... the video

Ok, I am posting this to show a point. There are some people who think a 5 spd WILL ALWAYS beat an AUTO. Even a modded auto vs a stock 5 spd. This video is for you. Now there are some of you that know you win some you lose some. This is just a little something to kill 60 seconds of your life.

Notice I did NOT say I can beat ALL 5 spds.

The wht max is mine the 97 se auto. Mods are, CAI,Y-pipe,Hi flow cat, after market b-pipe, stock 2001 SE muffler

The other max is a 97 se 5 spd. Modded with a y-pipe and I can't remember if it has a cat back exhaust or not. BUT it DOES have STOCK intake.

SO yes I do have a slight advantage. BTW do not ask me who the owner is, I did not ask him if I could post this.

Also my server will slow down when the 300 people d/l it. PLEASE RIGHT CLICK AND SAVE AS

Racing is stupid and Illegal. Don't do it. You might kill someone. Do NOT try this. I will not be held liable for somone jumping off the bridge with me.

RACE

sticks hold the biggest advantage starting from a standstill, not as much when your going from a roll

I thought that the gearing advantage went to the 5 speed even from a roll? It doesn't matter really though, because for once, someone has proof.

All the real slow cars are auto, but all the real FAST cars are also autos.
The blue collar transmissions fall somewhere in between.

I just wish the auto tranny in our cars are more like some of the domestics. If any of you been an auto domestic car, the auto shifts so much better than the one in the Maxima. No need to worry about OD on/off, just stomp on the gas and go.

So with OD off, what's the limit before you have to turn it back on? not 130mph right? I haven't try it yet, so I'm real curious.

What up deez...

Let's see....auto w/ I/Y/E versus a 5-speed with Y. The 5spd is a second faster than the auto, and the auto has a slight advantange mod wise..............

...the 5spd shoulda creamed him easily. Driver musta been drunk or something

Just kidding bags, good race...I know my '95 autoTRAGIC with CAI, downpipe and dualies pulls like MAD at those speeds.

But seriously, the 5spd should rape you at any speed but those, so I will say smart racin!

I found that shifting into 4th gen with o/d off @ around 6k is faster felt like it was running out of air.

Remember mzmtg's sig at one point? The one where it's pegged at 130 mph.

your pushing you motor harder, BUT it's in it's strongest gear. I drive at about 110.. but when push comes to shove, i'm good for about 140.

I have riddin at about 120ish for about an hour or so. If you want to play hard, be prepared, your going to wear out the engine faster

lol...true.

bags...how about on the street do you have OD on or off? I have OD on full time on the street. Seem like it doesn't make much of a difference from a stop. I only play with the OD off when I'm on the highway.

Nice video. I've got lots of respect for the autos. I've never raced BSwithTF (Travis) and his 96 GXE auto (y-pipe, catback, ECU, VB, CAI, UDP), but he's pretty competitive with me ET wise on the same track. I've got a y-pipe, POP, B-pipe, and UDP. He runs 15.0-15.2s where as I run 14.6-14.8. If we were to race, assuming the same reaction times, I would probably only put 2 cars on him at most with much of the distance occuring from the last 1/8 on. The big difference between the auto and 5 speed is trap speed. Travis usually gets 91-92mph where as I get 96-97mph. That's pretty significant. I think the 5 speeds strong point is it's 3rd and 4th gear. The autos just can't match the pull and it's clearly shown in the most of the trap speeds on this board. 5 speeds are typically 3-5mph faster thru the 1/4 mile even though the ETs are relatively close (within .3-.5 seconds).

Lucky Kill What gear did he punch it in? It didnt seem like he took it down to third. Here is a vid of my highly modded auto vs. bone stock 5 speed. I have got the auto to run a little closer to the 5 speed now. But I still get roasted. This was a normal launch, with no torque braking, also the 5 speed launched @2500rpm. Since then I have launched the auto @ 1200rpm, and still got killed.

about 3/4 throttle to 25mph, then full... I had grounded out VTC's as well. And the auto has 237,000 miles on it.
