Nissan dealerships charge around $500.
You can buy a rebuilt one for under $200 with a core exchange and do the work yourself.
I did the work with just the Hayes manual and absolutely no mechanical experience or ability.

do it yourself

u should do it urself. I did it myself.. and learned a lot from it. Its not that hard. You just need the haynes manual. I bought a rebuilt altenator for like 75 i think and i didnt have to do a core exchange. You'll save a lot of money doing it on ur own.

it was making a horrible squeeling noise, thats what made me think it was the alt. then my belt broke so i check to see if the pully for the alt would spin and sure enough it did so i check the only other pully and it was the ac (big pully by the ground) and it was frozen solid had to have the whole compressor replaced now my ac blows at 43 deg.
