secrets from a polishing *****!!!!!!!!!

thanks to a member on the org, i finally found a material that makes the metal on our car shine like never before!
this stuff works great/ i re-did my valve cover and now i don't even have the water spots any more!

i think it uses the actual metal that is lifted off the material and rubs against itself to create a shine!

stuff is called tripoli compound. cost is $3.50 at home-depot
it looks like a popsicle stick and brown in color.

direction: rub it on a cloth and stroke it in an up/down direction. DO NOT RUB IN SWIRLS......IT WILL LEAVE SWIRL MARKS IN THE METAL.

LOL...rookies.
that's the stuff u put on the buffing wheel when you're ready to buff out sanding scratches.
it's basically similar to polishing/rubbing compound for the paint. becareful what you use it for...some are made for alum some are made for steel and etc etc...mixing and matching will give u poor results.

only if your exhaust tips have sanding scratches..which i doubt. if they are dull but polished/chromed then i would say use some metal polish on a cotton towel and you'll be good to go.

The type of buffing wheel is also important. Combo of the right compound and buffing wheel will yield quicker result. Tripoli is perfect for soft metal like Aluminum, brass, cooper. Use sprial buffing wheel with tripoli. You can follow it up with some jewelers (aka red) rouge with a fannel or felt buffing wheel for that super shine. Then white rouge is even finer compound than jewelers rouge. You can get most of these compound online from eastwood.
