A night out cruising: some wins and some losses

I went to neighboring Grand Rapids last night to cruise(the city where American Pie was to have happened, though they changed the name to Great Falls). I went with some other guys, a BPU Supra, Blown (Kenne Bell Roots type) + N20 Mustang 5.0, turbo civic, low 13 second turbo eclipse, and a mid 13 second WRX.

On the way up there there was a red Lightning cruising fairly fast so I decided to see if he wanted to play. At first I thought he didn't so I just went back to cruising at 85 after I'd slowly passed him, then a minute later I noticed him coming up behind me hard. I tried to get on it and go to 4th... too bad I hit 2nd at 85-90ish when he was directly next to me... so that race was over before it began needless to say. My car is ok BTW, I was rather ****ed that I messed up a highway run with a lightning though. After getting it into 4th I gave chase and got up to a pretty good clip, as did he, but he let off and was quite a ways in front of me, probably 200 feet. We got off at the same exit and I gave thumbs up, and he waved. Cool.

At the cruise spot there were probably 400 cars, it was huge compared to the 40 or so that are usually out in my city. Imports, domestics, bikes, lowriders, everything. Pretty sweet.

Then we went out with some locals to a race spot where a 1G eclipse GSX with a 20G turbo raced a few bikes. This eclipse hauled ***, and got the bikes hard off the line, one race was dead even when they shut down at about 100mph (I don't know what bike it was, sorry) and another bike was about 20 feet in front of him when they shut down. Fast car.

After watching some more races we decided to head home. On the way home I raced my friend's 13 second WRX which he'd put 110 octane in and cranked up the boost a bit, he traps about 100mph on regular 93 octane. From 90-130 he put about 8 or so lenghts on me. Then I raced the low-13s DSM (with 110octane Torco and upped boost as well, he traps 103ish on regular 93 octane) from about 90-130. He put about 10 lengths on me in that span. I also raced a 5.0 (94-95 style) Mustang (not the one that came with us) from a 80 roll. He got hammered hard. By 120 I'd put probably 10 lenghts between us and I believe he let off.

So that was my night.

Sounds like a fun night Neal. Good job putting that Mustang in its place

Is that the same mustang you said was supercharged and NOS'ed? If so, DAMN! Just be glad you didn't catch him from a stop

No its not the same stang. This was just some random stang I saw on the highway. I couldn't handle Andy's SC/Nitrous stang. He raced the Eclipse that I raced, and the Eclipse got him off the line and kept pulling, so its safe to say the stang is between myself and the eclipse in speed (BTW the stang doesn't use his 70 shot, its just still on there since before he had his SC). He's probably good for mid 13s at like 102mph. We're all going to the local track if it ever opens, so I'll let you know then.
