Just bought my first Maxima its an 87 wagon . Had one elderly owner and was maintained by Nissan. I am very fimiliar with Nissans V6 since I have owend a Number of 300zx and A V6 PU truck. My problem is that the car runs Hot (not over heating) I justed replaced the thermostat and it is better but still hot. The radiator looks marginals and will be replacign it this weeks. Right now the engine runs at the temp where the fans come on even when driveing on a cool night. If anybody has soem I deas what to check I would apprieciate the info Mikee

 

u may want to check the coolant levels..take it to a mechanic and have a tuneup..usaully elderly people dont do the maintenece peace.

 

Could be water pump leaking or going bad , like he said check fluid level and coloration.

 

Make sure you are running no more than 50% antifreeze in your cooling system. Too much antifreeze and not enough water cuts your cooling capacity severely.

 

They made maxima wagons?

 

Try using Royal purple, purple ice or redline water weter. It won't fix the problem but it will lower the temp 10 degrees F.
