For those with VE power loss (topend and lowend) ....

I have a Red 91 SE 5-spd, and recently added to my collection a Red 93 SE 5-spd. The car is in prime codition in and out with new VTC's. The only problem is that it lacks low end power till 3500 rpm and then lacks topend power once you reach about 75 MPH on the speedo. I took it to the dealer and the first diagnoses was that something was wrong with the knock sensor and that was causing the engine light to come one. Well after two days of them taking it apart I got a call that the front chain tensioner was bad (missing one teeth). knock sensor was fine and wiring for it was fine. So they replaced it, put the car together, and took it for a test drive. The car was still lacking low end power so they open it up again and found that the rear chain tensioner was missing two teeth. . WTH, didn't they notice that the first time when the took the car apart. Hopefully this time they check the third tensioner also. They told me that this was causing the car's timing to retard thus losing power. Anyways it being put together now and I will get the car this Friday. The dealer was pretty nice and said that the would only charge me for the time they took it apart the first time. Hopefully my baby will be like new again. So for those that have no lowend or topend power check you chain tensioners also.

You mean chain sprockets? The chain tensioners don't have any teeth. Take a look at your vacuum canister on the intake to see if it's actuating.
