What will happen if I remove my MAF sensor from the mix?...

What would happen if I remove my MAF sensor & tape-out the sides so no dirt will enter it? Remove the MAF from the intake, tape it up & tie-wrap it nice & tight to the firewall or fender. But leave it plugged in. Yes, I know this sounds crazy!... but what would happen to the car's performance?

Thanks,
G

Since it wouldnt read any current of air coming through to it your cars engine wouldnt run right. Thats what, so dont do it

IF it doesn't sense air going in, it won't know how much fuel to deliver to the injectors, thus no detonation, no turny the crany, etc

The MAF reads the incoming air, and it tells the computer how much air is coming in, hence its name Mass Air Flow Sensor. Without it, your car will have absolutely no idea of how much air is coming in.

Don't mess with it.

That's like saying, "If I remove the engine, would the car run?" No. The car would definitely NOT run right if you removed the MAF. It is the #1 sensor in the engine. The car would run in limp mode, very very rich and crappy power, and wouldn't rev past 2000 rpm.
