Police Interceptor couldn't hang... [version 2.0]

I'm on my way to work, left lane 70 mph...as usual. This white Crown Vic gets on my bumper hard. I move over and I see it's an ex-cop car. Used to have a spotlight, used to have a door emblem, used to have a light bar. He gives me a dirty look and flys by.

I decide to let him know his car "ain't all that."

I get on his bumper now, we're going about 80mph. I'm on him tight, trying to provoke him. He looks in his rear view and shakes his head. The he waves goodbye. (Okay, right ) I see a puff of black smoke from each tailpipe as he punches it.

By about 95, I'm next to his door, easing on by. By 110, I'm past, and he looks ****ed. He flashes his highbeams and shoots over to his exit lane.

Kill.

I only wish we had both been going the same route after that. I would have loved to see him try to follow me around the "40 mph" exit ramp at 80mph.

Oh well, it was nice to take that cocky bastard down a notch.

I thought I posted this earlier this morning, but my next door neighbor is a cop with a Police Interceptor model, and I asked him what was under the hood that made it differnet, and I was shocked at his reply. Nothing. The Crown Vic PI models are the same as the Crown Vics that anyone can buy that have the towing package. Beefier suspension, stronger tranny, etc. But he said the the motor is the same. I was dumbfounded....

That caliber? HAHAHAHA!

The Ford P71 (Crown Victoria Police Interceptor) has the Ford modular 4.6 V8, makes not much more than 200hp, weighs 4000lbs and gets 0-60 in 8.5 seconds.

The Mercury Maurader is a litle bit better, but not much. The only factory Crown Vic that would even hang with my stock '96 SE 5spd is the protoype V10 Propane-powered model. Gets 60 in 6.6s

Not bashing them... Just pointing out the facts...

I remember when a Motor Trend or Road & Track did a comparison of a Police Crown Vic vs. Civilian version and the civilian one was not only faster (15.5 vs. 15.7 1/4 mile) but it pulled a better skidpad number too. There's nothing special about these cars and they will be owned by just about any properly driven 5-speed Maxima and some Autos.

Disregard my last post.

Here it is: A comparison by "Popular Mechanics" magazine. It's one of the best I've seen.

Enjoy

The police cruisers that are actually fast...

Are the old Caprices. They were basically a stripped down Impala SS with a 260hp LT1 V8 and a tp speed of 147 mph.
I've had the pipe dream of buying a used cruiser for a while, now. A guy in my area got one and beat some kid in a Saleen. Major upset.

in my state, a "police interceptor" is a modded camaro z28. Kill that one.

Also, the guys that were at the Lexington KY meet got to see their police interceptor. A supercharge mustang cobra. Kill that one.

We're talking about Z28's or Cobras. If we were, then this conversation would be very different.

Um, what's your point?

If I beat an Integra, are you going to make it a point to tell me I cant beat an NSX?

calling ragged out crown vic police car a "police interceptor" is pretty lame. I already pointed out what a real police interceptor is in my area. It certainly isn't a ragged out crown vic with probably 150k on the odo. With that in mind, your Integra vs NSX analogy is incorrect.

It's called the "Police Interceptor" by Ford. They have a little logo on the window that says it. The newer ones even have a badge on the trunk lid.

I know it's a big ol' slow POS.

I know what it says on the window. I drive one but isn't an interceptor. Ford may call it one for marketing.

Ok, so what is your point?

That I beat a slow car? I'm aware...my car is slow too.

I'll take what I can get from beating up Civics and "grandpa cars"

the real point is that is it worth it to you to drive like an idiot to beat a car that is ragged out and then to brag about it?

Would he have done it if it wasn't worth it?

Apparently he does it whether it is worth it or not. It seems to establish a driving pattern.

Ever seen someone racing on the road and it go bad?

So what is my post to you? I wasn't posting TO YOU.
