I chirped second today in my autotragic! (no vb mod, nothin')

I was on my way home from my tutor. As usual I manual shift everywhere. Well, making a right turn I was in first gear, and at around 3,000 RPM's (20mph +/-) I switched to second w/o taking my foot off the gas. I then pushed down on the gas and timed the shift just right and got a nice SCREETCH of the tires! The roads were dry too. And it was the rough asphalt not the smooth kind. I was like SWEET...it was my first time.

You guys may be like whoop-dee-doo, but I think it's pretty sweet since I have the stock slushbox with no tranny work, heavy 17's, and bolt ons which do nothing really at that speed. Has anyone else ever chirped that is in my situation?

Come July 13th I'll be chirping my tires ALOT more baby

Some Accord V6 owners have lots their tranny's by chirping second all of the time though so be careful with that. Not like it matters anyways though.

I think I did it twice (chirped second). I love manual shifting my auto, but seems like it isnt a good thing to do, is it that bad?

Your right I should take it easy on my tranny...after all I need to keep it in good shape so I can make alotta $$ when I sell the thing

Futher more i'd like to say God bless Cbr2 and the invention of the 5-speed transmission!

If your driving along and just move up the shifter into 2 then drive without taking your foot off the gas much, it doesn't hurt it at all. All your doing is telling your tranny when to shift, it is the one who is actually shifting.

I've done it once before too >>

It was a cool, humid night (which the VQ seems to like). I was probably amped from watching riceboy's race all night, so I playfully placed the shifter into the 2 gear detent. THe light turned green and usual screeching fanfare erupted from the front tires. The revs climbed quickly to about 5500, I held the throttle down, and as it shifted into 2nd hard (which on our trannies it seems to do all the time), it chirped. A bonafide chirp. I went to bed with a big smile on my face that night.

Weather conditions have a lot to do with it .. With the right temperature and humidity, any tranny should be able to do it. I didn't think mine could after I put my zr tires on, but I found last week it could

i know how ya feel guys.

was out in the 98 se auto last night {test mule}, had the redneck air intake going on {actually works}.

anyways
from a dead stop, i rolled onto the gas, put it to the wood. both tires kept giving out a struggling screech, torque steering, and then hit second at 6100 rpms. CHIRP! a little more screeching. then it subsided. then hit 3rd gear at 80 mph. the front end jerked to the left.

same strech of road laster, with the stock air box closed up. no such luck anymore
=o(

i need to do the line pressure mod on a switch thingy

Happened to me today when I shifted from second to D at about 30. I thought it was kind of cool but was more worried that i could f**k up my transmission.
