2002 Maxima 6 spd hesitation PART3
2002 Maxima 6 spd hesitation PART3
There are more people who noticed the hesitation on the 2k2 Maxima than those who did not. I think
we definitely have a problem. We need to act fast
because if there is no fix from Nissan on this, our investment will go down the toilet. It seems to me NISSAN must have known about this. They should not have been selling this car. What does everybody think about this ?
Please go to serach, and sesrch for 2k2 and hesitation. Also see my previous threads under "alui".
Thanks.
Frustrated with my new Maxima

Of course Nissan knows about these issues, that's why they have TSB's. But they only use them when the customer complains. Power Brake Check Valve is a totally known issue with 4th gen owners. But what did we have to do? Live with it. You'll drive yourself crazy if you want everything to be perfect on a Nissan. Anyway, good luck, locating a TSB would be the first step.

I'm curious, what hesitation is this? I'm assuming it applies to those with 6spd tranny's?

Now with FrankenCar intake I notice it even less. I try to avoid dealers if I can, the more you go there the more chances you have of them messing something else up even more.

I'm pretty sure the hesitation you guys feel is the mapping of the Drive By Wire. The reaction time to open the throttle plate based on your foot is probably a bit slow. I feel the difference when I switch cars and drive the 330, which is also drive by wire. It's not bad, but it's definately noticeable. Perhaps Nissan ramped that stepper motor control circuit to be smooth, remember not every Maxima owner drives like we do!

I've often thought how amazingly dumb it is the way the Bose head unit works as far as getting to a particular number on the dial--it'd be alot easier if there were a dial. And the scan is altogether useless on AM radio, it stops every 10. Yes, you do need AM in the city to pick up the traffic report every 10 minutes.
Don't worry, from what you describe you're not losing 0-60 then, because you didn't leave when you put your foot down. And if what you describe is true, I can totally see Nissan telling anyone coming in with the hesitation blues to fuggediboudit
