New product in Question

http://sunautomobile.com/

they have a product called Hyper Ground Systems. Basically it's suppose to be an upgrade for the electrical system to lower the reistance ground path and increase the overall voltage of the system. They claim to:
increase torque and horsepower
increase mileage
increase throttle response
reduce emissions
Bright headlights
reduce audio ground noise.

It sounds too good to be true, but I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about this product and whether or not it's a scam. The company is located about 10 minutes away from me and I was thinking I would promote their product if they paid for my dyno. The product is about $100 and is for just about every car including specifically the Maxima 3.0 and 3.5L engines. I guess if they would pay for my dyno, that should determine the power increase. My digital 1.0 Farad cap should determine if there is an increase in voltage. I'll go ahead and give them a call

Please update us if you get this done, it seems a little too good to be true for a $100.
Thanks,
Paul

What exactly does it change from the electrical system to produce these results?

Just the ground connection which will distribute elcticity better, however, I have a hard time that would add any where close to 5 HP.
Thanks,
Paul

I saw this system on a WRX at Stillen day. It looks very beefy. I don't know if it will increase hp that much, but it's worth a shot.

This might be a good thing to do for an older car with some mileage on it, if you're running a power-hungry stereo, but I'd think you could get the same effect just by buying wiring and replacing the ground wires yourself (it might not be as 'pretty' as the wiring they have with the mesh outer layer) for less than $100.

Cars not running power-hungry stereos/accessories probably won't see much improvement at all from this process.

I saw the same thing too. I don't know that "grounding" the car better will necessarily improve performance that much. May improve stereo interference or improve slightly the electrical components in the car (alternator, batt., etc.), but I doubt that performance would be greatly improved since most of the performance is controlled by ecu's and set timing and fuel maps. I doubt that the ecu would react to "better" current in that respect. I could be wrong though. Would be sweet if it did work as advertised.

Nothing really to update

I gave them a call and spoke with a fellow who's english was not the greatest. I basically volunteered my Maxima to be tested with their product and if gains were found, I would promote their product. He told me that they sent a few sample units to Stillen and Excess for them to test out on several cars since they have a dyno. He gave me the numbers for Excess and Stillen to inquire from there. So far, he said they've gotten from 2-5 ft-lbs and 3-5 HP gain from every car tested so far. He specifically said that every car has shown a gain...of course we can't totally validify this because he works for the product's company. He did say though that this product was HUGE in Japan and that they just started importing them and forming a business here in the states since April.

I honestly thought my offer would have worked...my friend just got a free set of headers for his 00 V6 Accord from Greddy just so they can dyno the gains! Those headers are like $1,000 and these wires are a mere $100. Well, I'll give Excess a call today and see what's going on.

Maybe I'll make a new proposal today...Test it on my Maxima, if there are gains, I'll buy the product and promote it. I figure if we can get a slight gain in HP, Torque, mileage, brighten headlights, lower emission, and lower audio noise, every Maxima owner will buy the product:
So many people have no other choices but to shell major cash for their next power upgrade
Everyone wants better mileage
People buy wire harnesses so they therefore want brighter lights
Some people aren't passing emissions with the Y-pipe so they must want lower emissions
A number of people are having alternator whine in the system.

I really hope this product and my proposal will be promising. I'll keep you guys updated.

There is a company that has been doing this for years but I can't for the life of me remember the name. Wait, Jacobson's electronics! They will quote you gas mileage increase and HP gains. It has been tested and proven to work time and time again. They don't quote unrealistic gains, but are rather modest. They created the first human pacemaker I believe. However, you have to decide if it's worth the cost as It was $400 for my Durango when I checked last year!

I have the Jacob's unit in my 626...it did wonders. It fixed the bogginess from idle to 1,200 RPM...gave me 1.5 MPG more, and more power up top. When you only have 110 HP at the crank stock, you need as much pwer as you can get.

UPDATE

I came across Hyper Ground Systems from an issue of Sport Compact magazine and they showed pretty good gains in HP, mileage, and torque for roughly $100. Basically it's just a better conducting ground wire I think. Anyways, I gave them a call to see if they would give me a money-back guarantee on the product, but the salesperson I talked with didn't really catch my drift. I sent them an email a few days ago and this is their response:

Kevin Wong,
Thank you for your interest in the Hyper Ground System. We are willing to
lend you a kit to be dynoed for your 97 Nissan Maxima. We have tested the
H.G.S. wires on various cars and have got a good result ranging from 2 to 6
horsepowers in gain. Actual effectiveness varies by the vehicle. There are
other benefits that our product provides. Better grounding gives more
torque, better mileage, better starting ability etc. which has been proven
through testing and taking extensive data. You could swing by if you would
like to pick up the kit either tommorow or later on this week. Ask for Atsu
or Daiji. Thank you.

S.O.T., Inc.

I'm going to go ahead and "borrow" the kit. Hopefully if the gains are as averaged (they said they tested with various cars and averaged 3 HP and 5 ft-lbs of torque with the lowest gain at 2 hp), I will actually buy the kit and I bet the rest of you will too. The kit is only $130...that being said, I hope this works. Now I just need to dyno. I was hoping to get a G-tech or borrow a G-tech from someone, but I may try and ask my friend at Mo-tech if I can have my car dyno'ed for free (I think that's a stretch since they charged a couple hundred dollars per hour for the dyno.

I'll keep you guys updated.
