Car is to High! Please Advise!
I have 17” wheels with low profile tires, and the stance is all funky now with the wheels floating under the car, rather then the car riding on them. What spring/shock combination do you recommend that I can get fast, and won’t cause an obtrusive ride. The wheel gap must be over 5 inches now!
you must have 17"s on 40's for a gap that big.
The choice is yours and how much cheese you can spend everyone has there opinions on springs this and that.
Springs-Eibach,Progress Technology(I have these lightningmotorsports.com search-nissan-suspension they have eibachs too),Intrax,H&R(tirerack.com),
Struts-Tokico,KYB,KONI-STILLEN,tirerack.com
or you could get adjustable coilovers
I am in NO way an expert on this subject I'm just putting up what I have seen and heard on this board, hope you find something

I know what you mean Tex. I just got my H&R's and Tokicos cause my gap was damn ugly! Try Shox.com. They gave me a great price, beat any other prices, and delivery was in less than a week. E-mail me if you want more info. Good Luck!

I once had 17"s without a drop and it is pretty horrible looking. If you don't want a harsh ride, get H&R's or something else that's not too stiff, Eibachs are pretty stiff. Keep in mind that Maximas have gigantic wheel wells and even with a drop, there's going to be quite a bit of space between the tire and fender. I'm running Intrax right now, and they're about the lowest spring made besides the new sprint ones and I personally think the gap is still too big. Or maybe 17"s are just too small for the car. Hopefully the GC's I just got will drop the car some more and get rid of all the gap. BTW, the gap on your car isn't any different than it was with the stock wheels, it just looks like it because of the low profile tires.
Yes, the gap is about stock, and looks funny with the tires. However, some SEs with the 16"s and the think tires don't have much of a gap, or at least not like mine.
So should I do shox.com or tirerack. Want a good price, and need them on the car by the 15th. I will likely go with H&R as I hear they are soft. What shocks are decent in performance driving, but have a good ride?

Tex, Tirerack is good also, but Shox.com is a bit cheaper, and everthing came to me in less than 7 days. I got the H&R's for $209 and the Tokico's for $300. Say you're from Max.org. As for info on what shocks you might want, Koni and Tokicos are our main choices. Konis are more expensive, around $440, but they are better performance shocks than Tokicos. However, for usual drivers who don't live in "pothole" areas or race too much, Tokicos will hold up pretty darn good, and come with a lifetime warranty. Good luck man.

Thicker tires won't help too much, I have 45's on mine and the gap was still pretty bad. Plus if u get much thicker tires, u will throw off the speedometer a bit, and lose the "cool" low profile look as well. I will have my combo on the car by Monday. I will make a post on how things feel and turnout. I know how ya feel man. I was like "whoa, i spent over $1000 on rims, and now i need to lower it too!" But the handling will be SO much better, so it's prob worth it in the long run.

I got that same problem...
2k Maxima GXE here...with 18" rims (225/40/18)...
I swear I must have a foot fender gap up front and about 10 inches gap in the rear (slight exxageration)...
It looks like I rally race my car or something...
Still undecided about my future suspension upgrade...
I already ordered Tokico's & i have Eibach's (for sale)...
I'm thinking i'll decided what i'm doing sometime before next summer.
Hopefully by then i'll have more choices.
