Coming back from work i was caught at a light and a bright yellow IS300 pulls next to me. There was 2 kids in it. I couldnt even see the driver he was sittin so laid back. Anyways, i didnt think much but the turn of that light he chirp the tires and i was ahh fu*k it. I dont need anymore tickets. THen he decides to be a smart *** and put on his parking flashers. Oh this pissed me off b/c i wasnt even racing. SO i pulled next to him and i see both of them lookin at me and he is still acting stupid and rev's his motor. SO i rev back, stupid CAI didnt sound too loud at all. So now i know he wants it, i figured what the hell, i was expecting to get my doors blown off. So i see the opp light start to change yellow adn i power braked it around 2000rpm. Light turned green i got him off the line w/ little tire spin adn we are off. I had a quater car length on him and he catches next to me side by side as soon as i hit 2nd gear. Doh! As soon i hit the high rpm band of 5000 in 2nd gear, you could hear my CAI screaming. I start to pull on him very little. At this time i am a quater car length again. It stayed this way till i hit 85 on a 50mph road and i called it quits, he kept going but i was done. I guess he beat me if you want to look at a long term racing. I'm just scared how it would of been if he lost his other passenger. OH well. THis is a warm up for you Ant!

IS 300

You gave it a good battle considering your autobox. Don't worry, us 5 speeders will give it a good fight. And we will come out victorious!! It is a good day to be a Klingon!

SCI said that the IS300 does 0-60 in 7.1 secs. I don't remember what the other mags have done. So that puts it right into the middle of the Maxima range. If you have mods and/or 5speed, IS300s won't be a problem.

Mods are coming out for the is300, and next year there will be a 5 or 6spd is300. Enjoy while you can.

a stock 5sp Max is pretty even with the IS300 in terms of acceleration from a roll (if they both launch at the exact same time), but I think with a good driver, the max is faster. I'm not a good driver, but I'm like dead even with my best friend's IS. He gains on me between my shifts, but other than that, we're always head to head. Maybe we should give it another run since we did this right when I got my car and didn't really know how to drive the 5sp that well.

As for the future of the IS, from what I remember, they're not offering a 6sp for the american version. The 6sp is offered in other countries because they're running on a 2.0 liter engine and need the extra gear (for power management, i assume), so they're have to re-do the gear ratios for the american IS. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's what I remember last time I checked up on it.

I raced on on the highway about 10 days ago. Coming home from work I see a yellow IS coming down the off ramp to I-95 but there is heavy traffic. About a mile later, I see him creeping up behind me weaving through traffic with his bright HID's on. So he is behind me for another mile and there is a break in traffic if I can make a tight double lane change. If he follows me, it's on. Sure enough he did. So break through, get to the left lane and both floor it. I pulled on him the entire time very slowly. I'd say I wound up with a car on him. Wasn't much, but enough for the kill. Well, here is my exit. Got to get home.

Any maxima or v6 camry with a 5 speed transmission can spank IS300s. I live right next to a dealership and i have raced one. I wasnt impressed but it was auto against stick. The stick IS300s come out later this year and they should be a lil faster.

Have no fear for those IS300's. I'm pretty sure any 5-speed Maximas (4th and 5th gen.) can beat an auto IS300 pending you are a decent driver.

uhh magazines are getting 0-60 times at mid to high 7's and 1/4 at mid to high 15's which is close to an auto maxima of course the is300 tops out around 142mph.

Mods are coming out quickly for them

There's quite a few already, and more on the way....they even have TRD to build them stuff (where's our NISMO stuff???). In fact there's a company down here in Miami that just recently turbocharged an IS300...I haven't seen any specs on it, but I'm sure it's pretty fast. There's another company that is supposed to have a supercharger package soon too...they say their level 4 superchager will beat the new M3!

Level 4 turbo???

what the...^_^
is this level 4 like level 4 turbo in gran turismo?
ahahahaha...yeah I don't have much knowledge....
consider beating a stock new M3...their 0-60 is 4 second something
their quarter is 13 second something....
can the IS be upgraded to provide that torque that the M3 have....or could the existing engine an tranny handle it
if you have enough money to upgrade that IS to something like a level 4...might just as well get the M3?
level 4 = some serious turbo...have to done properly?
will cost you more than 10K to be done right ?
well.....still not quite a new M3 price...
oh well...
Turbo IS....or stock new M3....umm..
hehehe..no question about it...M3...

I believe skid pad ratings for a 2000 Max SE were like .80 or .81. I think they were testing with 16" wheels though.

The IS is recorded as being able to do 0-60 in 7.1 Sec. I've tried one also, and think its true.

The IS300 are good competition for a good running auto Max with an intake. The IS300s run mid to high 15s (according to timeslips at IS300.net and the mags).

I raced a IS300 with a younger guy driving a few weeks ago. Off the line we were very close, but has I got deep into the powerband of 2nd I started walking him. As 6100 rpms rolled up on my tach in 2nd, the IS300 driver got a very nice look at my shiftlight going off (he was over a 1 car behind). At 75mph I shut down with over a 2 car lead. He waved, I waved, cool cars on both sides.

One word for you....

"Get-The-Valve-Body-Modification"

~0.5s off your 1/5 mile time...Can you say byebye Mr. IS300? =) Well, maybe not byebye-eat-my-dust...more like byebye-I-beat-you-to-the-next-stoplight. =) I have the VB mod and boy does it make a huge difference, just my two cents.

Not a level four turbo

But a level four supercharger. There's talk about it from one of the guys from the company on is300.net Ya, Toyomoto is who did that. There was a guy at hot import nights in Ft Lauderdale who had a turbo charged SC300, and the Supra manual tranny...had a dyno sheet showing 450 horsepower at the wheels! That was done by Toyomoto as well.

They usually say 100lbs takes off .1 off your Q-mile... so im guessing its going to slow him down about .2 seconds.

It may not sound like a lot but it is. .2 is about 1-1.5 car lengths difference (depending on speed).

Re: i got a IS killa

i think i'll be heading to a lexus dealership and to the audi dealership tomorrow.. see what they have to offer.. i am probably going to try and sell my car privately, i think i'll get more money and be able to afford some mods on the new car(body kit, rims, i/e).. is300's are nice.

Yeah your right, Is's are well built cars and handle very well. Only problem is, mods for that car don't come cheap. But if you can afford the supercharger and the coilovers by TRD I would get it. Best thing about it is, you don't void you're warranty. I just can't wait till this is the case with NISMO and future nissan cars.

As for racing them, in an auto you will lose to them every time on the top end. Well atleast that's the case with me when i'm racing my friend. He'll start walking me when i'm in fourth. Frustrating feeling.

As for lexus's answer to the m3... i believe there is a prototype is430 in europe that hauls some serious a$$.

I ran into one the ghetto clowns with gold teeth and they want to race in traffic on the highway but when I was at the light they didnt want none of this 5 speed. Bunch of woozies in the IS300. Synki I thought you got rid of the Maxima since you sold your Nitrous kit?

I still have the Max. My rents needed a new car so i will be giving them mine. A lot of people ask why i am giving them my car for free rather then sell, i just call it a token of my appreiciation for everything they have provided. I have test driven a few S4's chipped & stock and i just fell in love with them. I will be buying one after i take of of thi accident i got in. Acutally, i didnt get into one but rather my car got hit while it was parked by a uninsured driver. (Damn this is a old thread of mine! i Cant believe its been 2 years! hehe).

Last night I played with a new is300 with NY plates which was yellow and dark tints. It looked like a honda with altezzas which now makes me disslike them. I had no trouble pulling away fomr 65-10mph we stopped playing after we flew by the state cop on the other side of I95.
