Does Wheel weight affect you throughout the whole race?

Does Wheel weight affect you throughout the whole race?

My 27.7 lb enkeis dont like to pull like the stock steelies and i want to race me friends new 2000 svt contour, stock 97 auto Gxe with those rims.. should i race him from a stop or a rolling start im thinking im gonna lose with the rims on but dont really care just wondering if the weight of the rims affects ur starting accell or even if a rolling start from say 30 thnx peace

I think that'd hurt you off the line from a dead stop. I noticed that with my UDP, Brembo 13" 2-piece lightweight rotors, and my 17 lbs wheels, my car launches from 0-40 much faster. I had the same combination with 25lb wheels of the same dimension and it was a tad slower....enough to feel the difference. I think you're beeter off from a roll. If he's your friend, it shouldn't matter...it's just for fun.

race him even with the rims i used to have a svt contour there not all that, there 0-60 time is only about 7.2 you have the same or right at the same horse power as he does, svt contour has about 190hp

incorrect. weight always remains unchanged. it doesnt matter if youre going from a stop or already in motion. now, if we were in space... that'd be a dif story.
