Re: Timing Advance Kits

Timing advance kit? You mean like an APEXi ITC (ignition timing controller)? I bought one 2.5 years ago and tried to make it work on my 97 and it wouldn't work...like the car simply wouldn't start. The ITC is not listed as a supporting Maximas and I found out why the hard way.

Only way to adjust ignition timing is via a reprogrammed ECU, like from JWT (Jim Wolf Tech) or GForce. That's it.

Wanna add big NA HP and TQ? Do a search on the Middle East Variable Intake (MEVI) manifold. It's a JDM factory part that will add approximately 25fwhp and tq from 5200-6500rpms over stock. It will drop your ET ~.3 and add 3-4mph to your trapspeeds. You'll have to buy it under a group deal $500 (ie look in the Group Deal forum).

Why? Do I make you nervous I rounded up, it was only 97.79mph. I've run a ton of 96-97mph traps and I got lucky one day. I was running high 96/low 97 traps one day and then I pulled off a 97.79mph which actually was my best run ever, ET wise. I will add that traction sucked that day, but the weather was pretty good (40% humidity, 50s, 30 baro). What's really funny was that I was running a 01 GT 5 speed with drag radials and he pulled off a 14.5@98.3mph. He asked what I had done to my "Honda". It turns out he wasn't happy to find out that I had a NA 3.0 V6. Who says the 4th gen has no topend
