Also some some quick tips on running the ad. Try to use a totally different color scheme then the page so your ad stands out. Use red, yellow, and blue. Since this is in a magazine try to set up a phone line where people can order a catalog, also make a catalog. These are just somethings I learned from an advertising course I am taking and Im not an expert but they should help you out.
Good Luck,
Paul

for araffio you are incorrect, I just got my superstreet yesterday(august 2002 issue) and the first thing I looked for was the ad which is found on pg.215. as for 190hp killa, in the post which greg asked for the cars he said only 3 cars will be in the ad and those 3 members had to pay the $30, but he asked anyone to send pictures so he can pick the 3 cars. It was great to see the add in SS but it needs work also he should have found a maxima with the sarona desings kit, if his true goal is to sell his own products. of the 3 maxima all of them had stillen kits which he does not even carry. the last thing I have to say (with no offense meant) I was hoping that the 3 maxima would represent the .org community which always talks about honda's being riced out, its a shame two of the maxima have alot of rice to them, one with a picture of a spider all along the hood, the other with a sticker flag on the doors and stickers in other places.

About your rice comment. The truth is that you advertise whatever you can sell, rice sells a lot better in magazines like that so that is what is put up even if it gives the Maxima a "ricey" image. A little of topic and my opinion but I am really sick of all the rice comments, who the hell cares. If you like the rice look then make your car like that it's all up to you. And if you don't like it, that's fine just leave your opinion to yourself like I should be doing right now .

If I have some more time I will spend much more time and design a horizontal one.

I remember I was reading the mag couple days ago. I got the say the ad was put in the wrong page. all I notice was the girls from the car show on that page and the previous page. not until I saw an ant running on top of the ad then I noticed those cars looks familier. I was like, "what car are those?" then I realize they are all maxima and finally read the title of the ad. personally, I think the ad need to be redesigned. like those RO_JA ad, they are much more eye-catching.

Nice work Gtr

Looking good. Gotta have some white girl tail on the ad too, so it doesn't have that complete "maxima=rice" flava to it. The Asian honey is cute, but the Charlies Angel's gun pose is sooooo played out. Put that fine looking woman in ANY other pose but that one please!

Ok, WTF!!!!!!!!!!

I just saw this ad today and there were only three maximas. Greg, said that there were going to be ten maximas. He sent an email to these ten people, including myself, and requested $35. I figured my car would be in the ad, but it was not. He just took my money and ran... What the hell is going on?!?!?!?!

It makes me feel a little better to find out that I'm not the only one getting scr**d around by Customaxima.

I live in Canada and sometimes getting parts for Maximas is a little difficult...

I ordered a Pacesetter STS from CustomMaxima on June 12 and got an e-mail back, saying that they were temporarily out of stock, but they would be shipping within a week. I called a week later to check the status of my order and was told "Greg would get back to me". I waited another week and called again a couple of times. I left voice-mails for Greg each time and never heard from him.

When I found out that I could get the STS at a local performance shop for less money - when you add in all the little "extras" you pay for when ordering from Custommaxima , I cancelled my order - 3 weeks after I placed my order at CustomMaxima. My Visa bill came in on Monday, and CustomMaxima billed my credit card for $90US($68+$22shipping) - or $140CDN on June 12.

Standard practice anywhere else you order by phone/internet is that you don't get billed until the goods are shipped. Basically, they've been able to use money from my Visa for nearly a month for free, when I'm paying Visa 1.5% a month for it. I guess I'm lucky they didn't pre-bill the $30US that UPS tacks on for "brokerage fees".

I called "customer service" at Customaxima on Tuesday and Wednesday to get an e-mail confirmation of my cancellation that I could send to Visa. Guess what?? They put me through to Greg's voice-mail(it seems that their only function is to put you through to Greg's voice mail).

It's now Thursday and I STILL haven't heard from Greg.

The next months ad will have all the Maxima's from Maxima.org. SuperStreet runs their ads on a 3 month delay, so ads that I submit this month will not be published till October. On August 9th the full page ad will be out with all your pictures on it as promised. So far I have not had an huge responses from the ad but then again it has only been 3 days. Supposedly close to 400,000 issues are distributed all over the U.S

I completely agree that the ad design could have been better. Alot of the .org guys have great ideas and I would love to get some suggestions, or even better have you make next months ad for me.

The next Super Street deadline to submit an ad is August 15th. It will be another ad the same size as the current one, 1/2 page color vertical ad. As you all know my design tastes are pretty crappy so I am open to anyones ideas. You will be reimbursed with $100 in free merchandise from our site for your efforts. Just email your finished ad as a .jpg file to: Greg@CustomMaxima.com and put "SuperStreet Ad" as the subject line.

Thanks again for your comments/criticisms. No offense taken, I honestly take each one of your suggestions to heart and build off them.

Are you sure it's in JPG? Given it's a print ad wouldn't a vector image or at least pagemaker file be better off?

Additionally, i'm assuming RGB is out of the question right?

It's just odd to me that a magazine printing press would only require the ad to be in a JPG format.

I have received about 13 emails so far from people pretty much saying my ad sucks. Gosh guys give me a break. For what I paid for it, I thought more people would like it. I appreciate your emails with suggestions but please don't send an email to just intentionally offend me. I try hard to help out the Maxima community and take steps other dealers have chosen not to. Instead of working against each other lets work together.

you can print in RGB, CMKY or whatever is better.. and no it doesnt need to be vectored at all.. you can print non vectored through quark or illustrator or acrobat..

size/resolution/the photos you have.. would all help is creating something for you.
