Lick it!...
j/k..dont even...wear some GLOVES..and clean it off with baking soda...and COKE does work...so just use that..clean it up..and if you go to your local auto parts store you can buy the cloth rings that go under thoes...and the grease to prevent all this. That gunk is corrosive and bad for you!

You can also use a battery terminal cleaner (wires on the inside of this gadget) to remove tough stains/rust/corrision.
Another way to prevent corrosion is to add those red/black or green/red battery terminal rings. They're little foam pieces that cost about a buck at any parts store.
