Dman..it's not sending me E-Mails, and I'm now subscribed.

Weird.

Anyway - these should be here sometime around late August/Early September.

Next GD may be at the end of July.

They are on a plane, on their way to Seattle.

It cost an extra $400 in shipping more than we had expected due to "volumetric weight".

But screw it - a deal is a deal....so don't sweat it.

Anyway - as some of you know my computer crashed a few weeks ago. And guess what! I lost everyone's info. I also think maybe one of you either sold your spot or decided not to buy. I forget who that was.

So could everyone please re-send their info (Real Name, Address, Phone Number) to cyberoptik@cablespeed.com?

Thanks!

Oops - that was meant for my other GD - my bad.

They should be here at the most in about 2 weeks....probably much sooner (like 5-6 days).

This one is over. Keep an eye on http://www.cyberhub.net/manifold/ for the start of the next GD in a few weeks.

Update:

I have received copies of the Cargo Invoices from the supplier. They were shipped the 3rd of July and should be here literally any day.

As I think I mentioned earlier - my computer imploded a few weeks ago and ate my PST files along with my Excel spereadsheets with all of your addresses and phone numbers.

PLEASE - If you are on this GD, E-Mail cyberoptik@cablespeed.com with the following info:

.org name
real name
address
phone number

Thanks!

Grrr....still not getting updates to this thread - sorry for any delay everyone.

Scruit - I don't have it. - try resending please.

So far I've got:

98blackmaxwind
Turbo95Max
96shogunmax
Tagmania66
Andreyyy
Type3max (replaced 1st97SE's spot)

Ironically - you are one of the first ones to join this, and the only one who's address I don't have!

(But thanks for sticking with me man!)

In other news:

The MEVI's are in Seattle at the airport.

Unfortunately, I have to work tomorrow and Monday and can't get out of work at all because I'm working shift work. The Cargo place is only open until 4:30 and I have to work until 5pm tomorrow and 7pm on Monday.

So I will (with 98blackmaxwind's help) try and get out of work and pick them up on Tuesday and try and assemble them and ship them out by Wed. at the latest.

Seriously - those here who have been sticking with me since November - I thank you for helping to keep my reputation on this board legitimate and giving me a chance when I really needed it.

With my new supplier, this sort of delay won't happen again and I'm sorry some of you had to deal with it.

Ironically, I actually got an E-Mail from the old supplier this morning asking why I haven't sent him E-Mail since he got back from his 2 month-turned 6 month 'vacation' last month.

Picked them up today - All parts are there and correct. They are now sitting at my friend's place until I can ship them out.

1 very small problem. I am a Systems Engineer for the Test Labs at my company. This morning, EVERY Server in the environment got nailed with the Valla.2048 trojan. For some reason, Norton AV didn't catch it at all.

So I have to work crazy hours this week. I have to REBUILD 114 Servers.

So I will get to packing these up on Sunday and will ship out Monday morning.

Thanks!

I only have 37 servers in our main corporate datacenter. (I'm the IT Manager for the whole company, across 10 datacenters in 3 countries) I can't imagine how much work would have to go into rebuilding them. They're all backed up nightly, offsite and all that fancy crap, but that's just data, notes databases, SQL servers web content etc.

You ghosting them? Restoring from a drive image? Most of our servers we have the data for, but not the OS or apps. They would all take at least 4 hours to rebuild (even just the WWW which is just W2K + Patches & SP4 + IIS) Our Notes mail servers would take us 6-8 hours. Darn.

I need to get ghost or something and take an image of all these machines.

We build all of our OS'es from scratch using COmpaq Management Agents and some clever scripting.

It only takes putting a CD in and booting to the CD then it asks a couple of questions (Server Name, Domain, SQL, Web, etc) then goes on it's way.

In production we have 500 servers. Thank god they're OK. That would have sucked, especially since it's Earnings Report day.

Anyway - it's 12:32 - I've been here since 7am.

I'm going to bed and getting back up at 6.

I will get to the MEVI's Hopefully Saturday if I can get this done. 90 Servers to go.

Maybe you can hook me up with a job after they fire my *** for the previous Lab Managers mistakes.

(He slipped a Group Account in there that has a username and p/w that was WAY too simple)

Couldn't be any worse than our previous Infrastructure Director that set all the passwords for everyone he just created in our brand new MS Active Directory to 'password'. Then sent out an email to the whole company saying; "You login is first initial, last name - ie 'jsmith'. I set all passwords to 'password'"

He didn't last long. His second big mistkae was designing an enterprisewide network architecture that didn't use any firewalls, claiming that hackers would have to know the box exists for them to hack in. My pleas to his management were ignored. In the first couple of months we lost 5 boxes to defacement attacks (updating patches and service packs - him? HAH!) Code Red and we wound up inadvertently hosting a **** site, MP3 library and a BattleField server. He left "for greener pastures" claiming his infrastructure was good. I spent 6 months of 14 hour days all over the country fixing it with firewalls, PPTP VPns and other security goodies. We haven't been hacked since. :P

Yep.

Same situation here. All of our production machines are severely castrated and dialed into PIX Fiewalls, random passwords, weekly NAV runs, all the good stuff.

But the previous lab admin didn't think anyone cared about the labs, and also since they have no connection to the Internet, thought it wasn't an issue.

Until last week when a developer VPN'ed in to do some work and spread the Valla.a virus around *****-nilly.

Now I'm cleaning up the mess. 82 Servers to go.

Just got done tonight.

I also just got back from my friend's basement where the MEVI's are stored.

I have 5 assembled, and 2 unassembled.

I decided to go 1 step higher and use Threadlocker RED on the butterfly screws. I don't want to be held responsible for any engines going poof.

Anyway - I have to work late tomorrow night - but these will be on their way to all of you on Thursday afternoon. I will E-Mail tracking numbers to everyone. Remember - it takes UPS about 24 hours usually to get the numbers onto their website.

Good call on the red threadlocker. i just got finished completely disassembling my engine just to get the mevi screw out. It was smashed into a pancake! I have scoring on my cylinder walls so I guess I will be getting new pistons and reboring the walls. I didn't use threadlocker though.

If you can bore... if the damage to the walls is bad enough you cannot overbore enough without weakening the cynlinder walls too much. And if you overbore more than a set amount (0.030" on a Ford V8, prolly less on the VQ) then you need to go with bigger pistons and rings - that will not be cheap, if they are at all available... :-o

Just go 9:1 compression while you're at it.

That sucks dude - who did you buy the VI from? They didn't use threadlocker?! (Or did you self-assemble?)
