I got mine from Fedex today. Wow, they don't look like much, do they . I think I could have made this kit myself for about $20. Oh well, hope they provide some gains.

Kev: More instructions might be needed

Kev,

I am still in San Diego right now, but looking at the pictures today, I could only understand the following connections:

(1) connection from battery to the the bolt near the strut mount
(1) connection from the bolt near washer to a bracket near int. man.
(1) connection from battery ground to....engine block ???
(1) connection from (I am lost here)
(1) connection from .....(need help here as well).

It would be helpful if you could describe the connections (what to connect with what), by taking a picture of your engine bay (the whole thing), and draw with a red pen or something to identify where the cables are connected. Otherwise, if you could describe what connects with what.....that would be fine as well.

Can't wait to go back to Milwaukee and install these things. I have a telescopic magnet so in the event when I drop the bolt to a hole from hell, I could always have a better chance to take it out. I am averaging about 29-30mpg in the highway and about 27mpg combined (20% city and cold starts, 80% highway), so it would be nice if I could get something like..... 35mpg!

(talking about realistic expectations)

Sorry guy, I'm in Hawaii. It may seem like it should take longer, but it's send via air so it's actually faster than sending it FedEx ground in the states.

Got my 2 silver kits yesterday. It was totally unexpected. I was expecting a Friday arrival.

I came home from school today and installed it on my 91 Stanza. It's too early to notice any power or mpg improvement but one thing I did notice was that my stereo was louder and cleaner.

The Maxima will get the wires installed this weekend.

Thanks again Kevin.

And.... how is it? If you have an '02, where did you connect the wires to?

I'm still waiting for mine. Kev, any tracking number yet?

I have a 99. You can definately feel the difference. Even a friend who rides with me a lot could tell.

Canuck,

Can you help me listing the connections that we need to connect..or an installation instruction comes with the package?

I will be home tomorrow and hopefully will be able to install this on Sunday morning.

Kev,
I got my wires!!!

It looks pretty plain and simple although the wires aren't very long. From looking at your pictures I was expecting longer wires. Maybe I need to re-examine it.

Will let ya'll know how it works!

BTW - Anyone have suggestions for mounting points for '02s???

I was concerned about the length of the wires as well, but it looks like we're ok, I test fit them and they'll reach all the necessary points, at least on the 2K-2K1.

Originally I said it would be cheaper to get stereo amp cables and make your own, but honestly the HGS looks a lot nicer and has a protective braided steel covering to keep them safe running next to all of those hot surfaces in the engine bay. I haven't installed them yet (waiting for Optima battery), so I can't comment on any gains\clarity\quality. Check out my thread about grounding points in the general discussion forum. The ground points should be the same for the 2K2-2K3.

Can you think of any side effects if I ground it in the "wrong" place? Like maybe shorting out something or screwing up the computer?

Glad things are working out for just about everyone. I'm glad you investigated with the multimeter, redmaxpa007. I guess that's just evidence to show that all this wire junk actually does something.

maximilion: The only places I think you could have a bad ground is near moving parts (fan belts, drive belts, throttle cables, etc) If your wires are close to any of them (which is not a horrible thing) use the zip ties to make the wires more secure.

And of course, you don't want to ground the wires at any positive connect point, you'll get a short I believe (positive battery post). Though I really can't think of any other positive points because I think they are all consealed in the electrical components like your headlights, alternator, etc.

Tanman: I've come to share that same philosophy. Sure you "could" do it yourself. Spend $20-40 on wire, $1.50 each for gold terminals, cut, crimp, and heat shrink all the terminals on the wires, but that's some time and still some money. But the Hypergrounds do have the engine dress astetics. They look a lot nicer than any amp wires I've seen, and they are suppose to have two extra layers of shield (the stainless steel braided thing) and they still manage to stuff more threads of copper in the wire.

Well, hope everything has worked out for everyone. Did anyone get the chance to dyno before and after? I was just updating that I have one kit that I'm stuck with. Apparently the original 30 committed buyers shrunk down to 24 seriously committed buyers...good thing I bought 25 kits and not 30. If anyone's interested, I'd really like to sell this and get my money back...or else there may be no more goodies out of me

I might need another one...

..but don't hold your breath on me. I was thinking that once I see definite improvements in my car (haven't installed them yet, still in Detroit, the wires are in Milwaukee)....I would go for another one for my gf's max in San Diego.

Not to bum anyone's trip, but I installed mine and didn't notice any difference. I'm pretty sure I used all the recommended connection points. Oh well, at least it looks kinda trippy!

A shop installed mine earlier this week. The car definetly pulls harder during higher RPMS. lights are brighter, sound system sounds cleaner.

The new Import Tuner I just got in the mail today does a dyno on a 97 Maxima with Hyperground wires. The car really does gain hp. It gains 11.6 hp at 4500 rpms and drops to 7 at 6000. The avg. hp for all the the rpms is 6.23. $hit i'm getting myself a set.
