Got my sets activated today (my max, and my wife's truck).

I defintely need to hack the cable so I can use the aux inputs on my HU. The FM mod isn't going to cut it as a permanent setup. My wife is very happy with hers though.

Besides that, I couldn't be happier. I love all the choices and the never ending signal.

Let me recommend the forums at www.clubxm.com They arent very active, but there's a decent amount of info in there.

Where has everyone who has installed placed their antennas? Any 5th gens place it on the rear deck? I live in Boston, so I am worried that it may have to go on the roof for a clear signal(tall buildings).
What do you guys think?

I put mine on the rear deck so it's not so visible. It cuts out in underpasses and tunnels, but other than that, it's been just fine, even driving next to big buildings in Seattle...

That's good to know. Did you install it on a metal plate or put tin foil under the deck as Kenwood suggests?

It's just sitting there. I'm going to put one of the velcro strips under it to hold it in place.

Just a heads up, Crutchfield has a deal (unfortunately not free) for everything except the antenna for $78.99 and if you order the antenna you get one month free.

I ordered one for my ride.

I should have pulled a Ben when he got his. I told my wife about it but she never called with her card number.

A note was left on the door of the old place to leave it at the new address. I havent heard another word from them. I called Sirius yesterday, and left a message to get the tracking number, but no one has called me back. I want my stuff!!!!!!!!!

I used to work for a car electronics/goodies shop and let me tell ya that place in the sunglass hut is sweet. That looks awesome. Ihave a Max but are int he process of selling it but at least I jumped on this group deal. Now the only thing is I gotta hook this up to my Kenwood DVD unit and I don't really wanna use the fm modulator so more modding needs to be done in the new car!

to update on the crutchfield's deal..

you buy the antenna and the fm-modulator / tuner piece from them.. and they give you the receiver for free. it comes to 129.98 before shipping, and they gave me the antenna adapters for the max for free with the fm-modulator.. the deal is good until april 5th, and currently the reciever and antenna are out of stock expected back in stock on march 5 / 6th ish.. so... i guess a decent deal, i dunno, free is much better.. but still.. not bad.. oh yeah, one free month of service too..

just for anybody who wants it and missed the free deal

Unit is installed. I tie strapped the fm modulator to my Pioneer head unit and put the antenna on my dash. No more listening to boring Boston stations.

Has anyone figured out how to use the remote to enter a channel number? Everytime I press a number, it changes the SR-1,2,3 and 4 as opposed to the actual channel.

There is a button on the remote that says direct. You hit it, then type the channel number, and then hit the CH+ button.

Well, UPS ended up delivering it all over a week ago. Come to find out they left it at my apartments office, but no one there ever told me about it. I left 3 messages about it over the week and a half that I was looking for it, but no one called me back. So I went into the office after hours Friday, and found it myself. So I install it tonight.....

Is $19 buckaroos cheapo enough? If so, read this. It requires some legwork but it's worth a shot

All your questions should be answered by the thread, if you need some clarifications lemme know.

requires you to buy either the FM modulated one (yuck), or buy the XM900 (slave unit driven off a pioneer IP bus head unit) AND a XM-ready head unit.

problem is I already have the head unit, so I can't get the rebate.

I'll look around tomorrow and see what I can find.. possibly buy both from ultimate electronics so they're on the receipt.. then mail in the receipt w/ rebate info, and take the original head unit back.

Hey all just a quick question, I don't know if you all are still checking this post, did anyone get the AudioVox kit? Reason im asking is, my roomate works for mobile toys and they are a Kenwood Partner, and through mobile toys he is able to get free equipment for almost anything, which works out for me, because family is included, even though im not family, we can just lie, anyway, I got a AudioVox Sirius Kit for free, the dude we talked to at kenwood, said it was a very good kit. My question is how the hell do I hook the wires up with aftermarket system, subs etc? I know where im going to mount everything and I don't imagine the install would be that tough, there is just like 90 different wires. Any input would be appreciated.

(also)We (roomate and I) are currently working on a getting a group deal going on in dash dvd/mm lcd's that flip out you know the ones that are like 2500+ anyway, another dealer from his work says he can get us some for wicked cheap, maybe even a few free samples just thought I would throw this in, if it does work out GD will be for maxima.org and Asog.net. thanks!

My biggest issue was deciding on how I was going to get the controller to sit in the stereo pod. Wiring is should be straight forward if you look at the directions in the radio's guide. Ground wire for the fm modulator and the tuner should go to the ground wire on your headunit. Yellow should go to the ACC and Red should go to your HOT wire in which your headunit is connected to.

ok, i guess its a good thing my deck has a bunch of RCA preouts, apparently I can use that or something else it came with 2 different types of adapters for the connector the HU. My modulator is alot plainer than the one in the group deal. its a small black thing that has like a 3 1/2 by 2inch lcd on it, and a a little part on the edge flips up for the keypad. Kinda reminds me of those old calculator watches only bigger. It also came with brackets and 3mm double sides tape to mount it to the dash, though I would like to make use of the second DIN pocket i have, its just to small hehe. So it as for power goes, does it need to be wired to the battery? or does it get all the power through the HU?
