5th Gen HID Angel/Demon Eyes Project now complete.....

It surprises me to see that this thread is still alive. So, the deadline is pushed back to Feb 14th? And now we only need 35 people to do it instead of the 50 people, putting $50 deposit? And is the price still at $180? If I put the $50 deposit, what are the chances that we'll get this GD through?

We already have 15 deposits

It's NOT in my nature to post on another's thread, but I'll comment here:
These lights do appear to be "ok" quality.
They appear to be decent rings.
BUT THEY ARE UPSIDE DOWN part of the LOOK of the Demon Eyes is that they GLARE AT YOU, not "peak over the fence" like some goofball from Home Improvement.
Part of the allure is to make your car look like THIS!

Those rings are going to cast a MAJOR shadow in the beam path. Am I mistaken? Did anyone else notice that?
Now I really have a renewed interest in this. Come on people! If we start getting close, are there maybe some of us who would be willing to put up for two sets? I would. After we get ours, and get them installed, and get pictures up, I think there will be great interest in these. Turn a little profit in the extra set.

Yes, they do appear to be really good quality. Unfortuneatly, look at the rings. It appears they are right in the path of light coming off the back of the reflector.

I talked to Marco and I think I'm going to try to set up the light and SHOW you how it will look inside the housing with everything attached.
What, did someon just ask "are these really bright that youc an notice them from far away?"
WHY YES YOU CAN
what, did someone just ask to see a picture of the new gen V ring lit up...SURE...WHY NOT!!!!
Now tell me that isn't some clean white light.

Do we have the monster thread here or what? 251 replies!
Anyway...
I had an idea that may help some of you get on board.
This occured to me when I was thinking about when I will do this install. Certainly I have to take my xenon housings out and take them apart. So while I am doing that, I will put my old halogen housings back in...
"Wait a minute," thought Jimmy, "what are the 02-03 owners going to do at this point?" Not drive their cars obviously.
So from a time constraint, I can see why some of you are hesitant. So how about this: After us 00-01 owners (who have headlights we can use while we install our angel eyes) get the install done, we can partner up with 02-03 owners who dont have that luxury. We can loan out our halogen housings to you guys, so you have more time to do the install. Then when you are done, just send them back, or on to the next guy. Obviously, you would have to extend the courtesy of alotting a set time frame to do the install in, so you are using the loaners for a reasonable amount of time. And for expediency's sake, we would have to have a fairly level field of lenders and borrowers for it to work.
Maybe if we can get enough 00-01 owners who have put the xenon's in to commit to this, we can get more buyers here? Or even solicit some of the 00-01 guys with xenon who are not planning on getting angel eyes to loan out their old housings.
I would be willing to do so, as long as I am assured of getting them back. There is no way I am going to trade in my Maxima, when the time comes, with premium headlights onboard.
The only snag I can think of is the wiring. I imagine some of you 00-01er's (a new slang term?) cut off your H4 and signal plugs and spliced the new ones in their place. I did not do that. My original H4 and signal plugs are still in the car. I made custom harness adapters mounted to the xenon housings so I wouldn't have to do any splicing in the car. So anyone who would use my housings, would have to aquire a pair of H4 plugs. Pepboys sells them, I think. $4-5 each maybe. The turn signal, I imagine you could live without for a couple days. It would only be the front. Or you could jury rig your bulb holder in place. They are the same size, different pattern maybe, just no running lamp. You would probably also be without high beams.
Just a thought.

see, slowly but surely we'll get there.
If you are on the fence, let's just let this one sit for a bit, we'll get teh necessary 50, I know we will
Jimmy, you are doing a lot of thinking! Thanks!
Well done.
One suggestion, you can always make a simple business like this:
Go buy 2002/3 headlights.
That's right, buy a set.
Here's what you do:
Customer wants pre-installed, great - you have a set of headlights waiting.
Let's say Maxima lights cost $1000K. + DDE.
So, you send him $1180 in product, he sends you $1180.
If the customer would like to ship back his lights, he'll receive $900ish back based on the quality of his lights.
Or, just do it on a weekend when you don't plan on driving the car around too much.
I drove around without a headlight for 1 month

Another thought I had on how to do the install: Go to pepboys and buy a pair of sealed beam headlights. They cost about $15 each I think. Rig them in place, line em up, splice power to them and you have simple, cheap, street legal, temporary headlights. For the rigging, my thought was an angle bracket, glued somehow to the light, and screwed in at the top where the housings screw in.
As far as what you suggested, mailing them lights, and taking theirs in trade, that has been suggested before with NO support at all. I can't blame them. I wouldnt want to trade in my good quality headlights for scratched up, dirty, poor quality lights.
But there are other alternatives, that I pointed out already to you guys. Come on! What happened to the demand when we first started talking about this?

Just completed some install docs.
This is the level of information you can expect - including the video of course:

Very detail directions. I have a question…in your direction you state that the fiber has to be routed thought the head lights which means that a hole has to be drill. My question is does the hole have to be drill on the lens. My problem is that with drilling a hole thought the chrome part of the lens wouldn’t the hole be seen especially if a black grommet is used?

no, you drill either through just hte back housing (since there is LOTS of room back there) or you find an opening as in the IS300 where there is a perfect location for it.
I'll have mockups for you guys in a bit

as soon as we get 50 depositors.
Then it's 2-3 weeks for mold making.
Then it's 1-2 weeks for testing
Then it's release - just in time for Hot Import Nights in a town near you.
This Saturday or Sunday, we'll have a test light to show the quality of the kit.

You're definitely welcome to meet up with me. I was just in Hayward yesterday talking to Double02 salvage, they want to start carrying them for the BMWs as well.
Let's assume that we will meet up sometime soon, email me and we'll see about setting something up.
This is your chance to get in before it gets commercialized and taken national
And you TOO can say, I was the FIRST!!

I hate Coyote Point though
I've given up trying to keep this thread "on topic" - so as long as people jump in, we can all have fun. At some point it has to get serious. Idle chatter amongst ourselves will not help.
We will have pictures, shortly.
PS: "colletive" = "collective" I can't type
