GD: Exedy Stage 1 Clutches for '84-'01 Maximas for $225.00

We need an order of 10+ kits for this group deal. Exedy Clutches are a JDM company. Clutch Kit fits 1984-2001 Maxima 5-speeds. Price will be $225.00 + shipping (15lbs). Clutch kit includes Pressure Plate, Clutch Disc, Release bearings, and clutch alignment tool. It's a 36% clamping increase over stock next to the ACT HDMM that has a 39% clamping increase. It's definitely the abolute best bag for the buck and we lowered the price drastically since the Retail price is $420.00 + shipping. You can visit www.exedy.co.jp (on theft scroll down to click on Engish Web Site) to check them out or visit www.daikin-clutch.com.

I might be interested. I talked to exedy before and they said 20% was the only option they had. Maybe they have a better one now.

It is a 36% clamping increase over stock and it's an organic/sprung performance clutch.

It's an organic clutch...

"EXEDY racing clutches with organic friction materials utilize only premium materials to provide maximum resistance to slippage and burst. EXEDY organic clutches can also handle modified engines due to the increased clamp loads. Drivability with EXEDY organic clutches is similar to that of stock clutches. Pedal efforts will be slightly higher due to the higher clamp loads. As with all EXEDY clutch discs, EXEDY organic clutches feature high capacity spring center dampers designed to reduce drive train shock and impact (www.coximport.com)."

It also states on that website under the product description that the clutch gives a 55% clamping increase over stock for this clutch. I'm going to have to personally call a tech over there to find out whether it's 36% or 55%. Seems like the clutch is retailing at $406.00 on www.coximports.com This may be a steal price and I didn't even know it. Oh well let's see how many of you are interested. Price will stay the same at $225.00 + shipping. If you'd like a shipping quote visit http://www.ups.com/ or http://www.usps.com/ The clutch kit weighs 15 pounds. Our Zip code is 07083 so put that as the origin and your Zip code as the destination.

It's is a 36% Capacity increase over stock. Called up another distributer this morning and he verified my other distributer's specifications.

What would be the price with flywheel. I might be interested but it would prbly be a couple months before purchase. Can you hold out that long?

whats the difference between ACT and this clutch besides a BIG price difference? i think ACT is 39% pressure over stock but 3% for around 100 dollars more, i rather get this if i knew it was just as good....

infinitiblast... sorry man can't hold out that long.

mecca... Exedy is a JDM company and ACT is American. Exedy clutches will last a little longer than the ACT. The 3% you wont really notice. They're relatively the same. Daily drivability will be a little easier with Exedy but when you get on it it will be just as good as the ACT HDMM.

I know this is not an accurate way to judge a clutch on either being good or bad but will I be able to chirp 3rd gear?

Are these remanufactured parts like the ACT or are they original like VITEK?

And does it come with a throw out bearing?
Thanks!

JustMaxin96... Sure you can chirp 3rd... you can chirp 3rd with your stock clutch. To my knowledge these are all original clutches. And yes it comes with the throw out bearing.

Turbo95Max... I would need 10 paid orders before having the clutches shipped. We accept payments in the forms of Visa/Mastercard, Money Order or CERTIFIED Bank Check. All of our contact information is in our signature (the first post). Please call or E-mail us if you have any further questions regarding payments or the product.

I can't chirp 3rd? Well my original clutch has 155K on it and it will still chirp 2nd.

So do we have to wait for 10 orders?

Thanks!

We still have to wait for ten orders.

JustMaxin96... when I used to run my friend's car for him at the local "underground" racing spot (he has a very fast civic but at the time he was still learning how to drive stick), whenever shifting gears when I raced, I didn't pick my foot off the clutch pedal... I slid it off to the left and let the clutch pedal spring up by itself causing a much harder shift. A lot of people (including myself) will tell you that's not good for the clutch or the trans unless you're pushing over 450+ horses and have a full racing clutch (not to be used on the street) but it was a very effective technique at the time(but I don't recommend you doing it... unless you want to finish off your stock clutch).

This is some of the Info I pulled of the Exedy Catalog at the store

"EXEDY Corporation of Japan (formerly known as Daikin Manufacturing Company) is the largest independent OEM supplier of clutches in Japan. We supply to all of the major Japanese vehicle makers and to Ford and GM in the US. We are also the leading manufacturer of Racing clutches in Japan and supply all six factory vehicle race teams."

"All EXEDY racing and performance clutches are engineered and built from the ground up as race clutches, not rebuilt from stock clutches that have been modified." (Answers your previous question JustMaxin96)

"All of our pressure plate castings are made from ductile (nodular) iron for your safety. None of our pressure plates are made of grey cast iron as are many stock pressure plates that are rebuilt in to "performance clutches." Beware grey cast iron castings may explode unlike nodular iron. Cheap grey iron rebuilt pressure plate castings may explode."

"For the latest updates, see our website at www.Daikin-Clutch.com"

hmmmm.. never heard of that technique, I may have to try it. My stock clutch will not die!

I read your next post, very informative. This sounds like the best clutch. I don't like the ACT because of no sprung hub, rebuilt parts and all the chatter problems oh and blown trannies..someone correct me if I am wrong.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6780

for anyone that wants to look at it. i know nothing about the seller, whether he/she is good or bad...

Thats more of an OEM replacement clutch and not a "racing" disc.

I believe both the Exedy Stage 1 (Organic) clutch and the Stage 2 (Cerametallic) clutch will handle around the same horsepower. The Cerametallic Clutch is a bit more beefier going from a 36% Capacity increase to a 76% Capacity increase. Slippage would be less and engagement will be much harsher for regular daily driving. In my opinion it's not to bad to have a little slippage off the line unless your car is garaged all the time and you only take it to the track. But getting back to your question... Yes the clutch will hold in your supercharged max... as long as you break it in the right way.

i may be in i was going to buy an ACT and fidenza flywheel in a month or two anyway but if this clutch is better then ACT and cheaper I might go for it. Has anyone ever used this clutch before? Any testimonals or back to back comparisons? That would pretty much sell me.

That's the thing... everyone is maybe... I need to know who is definitely down so that I can get a rough number of how many clutches to order. I'm not going to order 10 clutches if there's only 3 people really interested in buying the clutch.

I just wanted to know if anybody has used this company before cause i've never heard of it and nobody responded. Would we be the first maxima's using this clutch? Are there any reviews from customers even if its on a different car? Cause for $225 it sounds almost too good to be true. How much is it gonna cost if it was just an individual buy and not a group deal? Thanks.

Sorry for all the questions.

96max5sp... I didn't mean to sound like a d**k in my other post. I don't mind questions. Hell I love the questions... when I don't have the answers, it gives me something to do... other than all the honda stuff I gotta do here. Let me just answer the questions in your last post. I was surprized to find out that many people don't know aout this clutch. Exedy is pretty much the "best of the best" when it comes to clutches. The racing clutches are pretty much used in everything from Touring cars (Skylines, Silvias, RX7s, etc.) to Formula 1 race cars. The retail price on the Maxima clutch is $424.00 + shipping for the Stage 1 clutch. If Exedy knew I had this deal so cheap they would cancel my wholesale account. I don't know if you guys would be the first to use this performance clutch, but if you'd like some reveiws.... do a search on Exedy Clutches on www.google.com or www.yahoo.com I'll see what I can find and post it up here.

I really don't know when all the slots are filled. The more people see this deal and the reasons why Exedy is a much better clutch than anything else... the sooner the slots will fill up, but by the looks of it, it should be soon.

I'll start collecting the $$$ when I have the 10 slots with people ready to buy.

I'm in assuming we get 9 other people. Is this group deal for a set amount of time or just until it gets 10 people?

Something interesting... I was looking at another .Org members ACT clutch he just recieved, and on the friction surface, it actually had 'EXEDY' printed on it! Makes ya wonder where ACT is getting them from...

I'm definately in on the deal, since I need a new clutch for the motor swap I'm doing. The catch is I can't pay until next friday when I get paid, since this check has to go for the engine. ( i hate having to pay all cash, lol) Do you think that all 10 spots will be filled by next friday? I will need it pretty quickly.

Nealoc187... This Group Deal ends when I have 10 people on the list ready to buy. We won't ship any out though until we get the 10 payments.

Whitemax... I'm pretty sure the slots will be filled by next Friday.

Well, then put me down on the list. PLease let me know if there are any problems though, Since I will need to get a clutch in to my mechanic ASAP. Normally I could just wait it out, but since My engine is dead, I need to get all the work done soon
