I called my local Firestone to get my Teins and Toks installed and they quoted me ~$400. Got similar install prices at other national chains (Avellinos, TiresPlus). It's cheaper to find a local import shop to install suspensions b/c the bigger places charge exorbitant rates. Mine have been sittin around for about a month now because of that

Tein says no camber kit is needed, but there are some on here who've installed the teins with camber bolts (~$50). I haven't looked into that yet so I don't know where you could get it. Maybe TireRack?

Hello guys,girls and all..

I hit one small bummer today when trying to place the order. My distributor contact, who is also the manager, took a emergency personal today (friday). His assistant told he will be back on Monday 4/28. I will place the order with him this Monday. For all intents and purposes this is not a delay because they pick the orders from KYB on Tuesdays and Thursdays. His assistant assured me they can pick them up on Tuesday and everything is still on track. For the record I could have the place the order with her but chose not to since I prefer not to deal with anyone else other than the person I have been dealing with from day one. This way we have no confusion.

As mentioned, I am in Buffalo, NY for the week end through Sunday 4/27 PM. My updates will not be very frequent because the hotel has only 1 computer in their business center. I got a laptop but no dial up account since I have home dsl. I am just giving you guys all the info in advance so some of us dont get impatient. If anyone needs me urgently you can call my cell phone which I provided to you.
Thanks

Not a problem for me at all. Thank you for setting this up and handling it. Do you plan to ship the units going out of state yourself, or are you going to have the distributer ship them? Either way, I am fine. I am waiting for the Tein S GD to go through and install those springs with these struts.

$400 to intall them? that is crazy. My local shop here is asking around $150ish to $200 at most, or I can go out to small town near by and they are asking $100.

I hope you look for different place because it shouldn't cost that much.

and Yes you got to love the life time alignment from firestone!!!

unless you knock the caster out of spec. i have the lifetime agreement w/firestone and the only ones that knew a way to adjust the caster was the dealer.

Camber Bolts/Plates Update

I talked to a local speed shop that is a TEIN and KYB dealer today. They said that the TEIN springs would not require any parts per TEIN, but he's done a Max that required camber bolts. He said that the plates would not be needed unless your setup is totally wrong or messed up (like from an accident). As for the KYB GR2's, he said that at most you would need 4 camber bolts. He also stated that one other Max that he did went and had 2 bolts put in for even more adjustment. That is basically application specific (dude had 20" rims). I saw the pictures.

Maybe this will help those with the camber plate/bolts issue. And to get the bolts, visit a local speed shop. They've got the ability to get you them.

I don't know. I'm having them ordered and installed when they arrive. He said that one Maxima did NOT need them, while another one did. They were both 2001 SE's. So I guess it's gonna be on a case-by-case basis. TEIN says that they aren't needed. The local speed shop said that they probably weren't needed, but couldn't confirm this until they were installed.

hey guys, I am back from Buffalo. Nothing to report. I want to get directly to some answers.
SgtSchulze ->Are you taking any more on the GD???? If so, I'm in.
You are quite lucky. As I said my contact was out last friday so I will place the order tomorrow (Monday). You are in.

DR0832 ->do you guys have any idea about how much on average it will cost to have just some lowering springs installed in a 4th gen?
Sorry pal, I dont have information on prices but I am guessing the answer depends on where you go. Shop prices tend to vary widely

so it's not a direct bolt on for out car? we do need the new cambler plate/bolts?
Yes, it is a direct bolt on. To the best of my knowledge it is. Now, I suppose a few things can change depending on the type of springs you use but for Eibach or H&R .. no adjustments required.

***ORDER IS PLACED!!!***
Ok- I placed the order today for 17 sets (front/rear) of the GR-2. The order is being placed with KYB as of 2P PT. I now have 15 paid orders including "Maxxxx" who sent me payment already. That means there are 2 spare sets available. If anyone wants them and I see 4 requests.. please just add your name here and send me your payment. My paypal is "vze29wrs@verizon.net" and your payment is $268 since paypal deducts 3%. I will add you to the list. Only have room for 2 more so please. .. first come .. first serve!!!

You are welcome. There is one set available for local pick up tomorrow. If someone in CA near Sun City wants to pick up his order, go ahead and PM me for details on how to pick it up. You will need a purchase order and sales reference number. For all else, the KYB orders will be at the distributor either Wednesday 4/30 or Friday 5/2 (that is providing KYB can fulfill the order although he said that should be no problem). By all accounts I estimate every one should have their orders at home no later than 5/15. I will keep you informed.
Now, I need to know who will do local pick up either in CA or NYC/NJ/CT. I have one other bundle shipping. Anyone else has any special requests for shipping? Please let me know. I am doing my best to help keep cost down.

***MAJOR UPDATE******
Ok-guys! I just got the shipping quote from the distributor to ship the parts to NY and it is very cost prohibitive. Despite not wanting to have them ship directly to your residence and despite all my logic against it, cost makes it very difficult. Essententially, to ship the 14 orders to NY will cost $394.00. Because of the large order and the discount he already offered, he cannot absorbed the shipping cost. I am continuing to speak to them and will update this thread shortly. Thanks

Ummm I don't know if this is going to such a good deal...I mean its $28 plus about $25 more to ship them to me. I mean thats more than you can get them from like SWA shipped. Is there anyway he can drop ship these because if not I don't know if its worth it for me to go through with this deal. $268 plus around $60 shipping total is not what I was expecting to pay.

It looks like the only way out of this shipping nightmare is to have the shop ship the struts directly to the recepients. Paying double shipping charges is unecessary and very costly. Personally, I can patiently wait to receive my order and will accept the lowest cost ground shipping method available. (Hint: USPS)

Dont worry, Matt...
We dont have to jump the gun. Shipping is going to cost you about $25 since you going to bundle them. He's gonna do direct shipping to help minimize cost on our end. I know it would be crazy to pay over 60 bucks in shipping. I'll keep you updated.

Hopefully we can still have ours shipped USPS 4 day to cut down on cost. Meaning me, scott, and haydn.

The box weighs 33lbs and is fairly large but not oversize. When packaged right, shipping is about $24 to anywhere in the US via UPS. USPS is cheaper so I will ask him to look into USPS shipping. I think we need to worry. After all, this is a fairly large order. We are working out the shipping details to keep cost down now.
