Hey Neptune, did you send yours in yet and or get it back?
Just wondering how you shipped it and how you are getting it shipped back from Technosquare since I will be shipping from Canada as well.

Curious if customs will charge us for this when it's coming back cross border.

Thanks

I'm going to do a writeup for this when I setup my cardomain site.

Couple questions:

I got my ecu back today, very fast turn around. I put it in and i dont really feel that much of a difference. It didnt have a sticker on it or anything so i am wondering if they did anything. I did notice that it runs much smoother when idling than before. I just want to make sure that the program was done, can someone reassure me?

no not sent yet, just got my spare on the weekend. Swapped out my original on Monday. The spare (from a 96SE 5spd) triggered about 10 different codes. I gave up writing them all down. Not sure if I should reset my ecu or not.

Sending in my original tomorrow. I'll ship it regular ground and I'm assuming TS ships back via UPS to Canada, or FedEx. If that's the case duties and such are wrapped up into those lovely brokerage fees.

I'm not in any hurry since I'm getting a dyno on the 10th of my car stock, another 2 weeks later after y-pipe/sp2 catback added and then a final dyno after I get my ecu back. Only 1 dyno in Ottawa.

The first thing I noticed with the upgraded ecu was that when I would rev it and let go of the gas the engine would stay idling at 1500rpm's for a couple of seconds and I don't know if you payed much attention at the speeds you have to shift gears on but before the upgrade I had to shift gears at around 58mph for 2 to 3rd and at 88 for 3 to 4th when taken to redline (6500rpm's) Now with the upgraded ecu I can take it to 65mph on 2nd and all the way till 98 on 3rd which means that my car is making more horsepower because it's able to push the car to those higher speeds at the same rpm's as before. I'm I making sense to you. See if you can see those differences. I also noticed that I would get to redline quicker than before. Let me know if you have the same signs

I will check it out, mine is an auto. I def. dont think that mine holds at 1500 for a sec. It seems much smoother and actually idles lower. I am not sure if this is just bc i have a 95 ecu in my 97. I will keep driving and see if i see any differences.

Tradeya89 I also have an auto and I could tell the differance as soon as I pluged mine up.I haven't went to the track yet to check my times but I do have a 1/8 mile marked off behind my house and I have picked up at least 3 to 4 mph in the 1/8 mile! It's definitely making more power. If you didn't notice a differance right away somethings not right.

ARGH!!! How the heck did you guys take your ECU out?!!?

This thing is impossible. I tried taking the ecu out of the bracket, but the screws on the back holding it in are impossible to unscrew...

If I try the take the whole bracket out with the ECU, are there just the 4 bolts on the front of it that I have to remove?

...HULK SMASH!!!

I know what you're going through as I did it myself today and had the same problem. Go to Sears and buy a 99 cent tool. It's like an allen wrench but has a phillips head tip on one end and a flathead on the other. Small enough to get in there. You'll also have to creatively position yourself lol. I used the tool and needle nose pliers to get the bolts out. When I get the ECU back, I'm only putting the front two bolts in.

Thanks THT... man these things were not designed with ease of removal in mind

It's a beetch for sure. You need a long, narrow wrench or ratchet, or a couple of universal joints and an extension to get at the front two bolts. I think they're 10mm. There are no other bolts you need to remove, other than the one holding the wiring in place on the right side of the ecu (take that off first).

Other than reaching for those two bolts in a very tight spot, the main problem is all the cabling that's clipped onto the bracket. You need to snip these off and push them aside in order to yank the bracket out. This is easier to do from the driver's side.

A Universal joint is your best friend for removing the screws that bolt the ECU into the bracket.

I had to use a #2 phillips screw bit, coupled into a 10mm socket, then coupled that into the u-joint. Using the U-joint for leverage, I managed to get the screw loose and after a few turns I was able to unscrew it by hand using just the screw bit.

sent my ecu out yesterday - $24CDN should get there ~6 days so hopefully I'll get it back late next week or a couple of weeks from now. By that time I'll have my sp2, budget-y and b&m sts installed.

For those that sent their ORIGINAL ECU in and have gotten it back already, is your CEL on?

My CEL is on but that's just because I cut the wire to my speed limiter.I checked the codes and thats the only reason my has come on.No other codes being thrown.

i glad that all of you are enjoying this ECU-
i should have my Maxima in next week *finally* for the REV limiter research, (sorry Deezo)

They are by far the best tuning company for Nissans out there. and i'm glad this maxima community is still going strong-

stay tuned for more 03/04/05 computer enhancements...

quick question

Having a spare ECU sitting in my room and knowing I can take it down to their location and have it done in about 2 hours is tempting. Whats keeping me from doing it is the question:

Will having bad O2 sensors in any way negatively affect the performance increase given by the new ECU??

In other words, should I get my 2 Oxygen sensors replaced (SES light came on the other day for it) first, and then get the ECU? Or should I just ahead and end the waiting and just get the ECU done right now and enjoy the power?? Keep in mind the O2 sensors should be comming within a week in the mail, but I want my ECU so badly...

err, well strike while the iron is hot I'd say. You're saving $200!

Hehe, just wait till you get your sensors replaced before plugging your upgraded ecu back in.

just follow the directions that nanomax set out in an earlier post, fill out the shipping form and fire it off. You can phone too, can't hurt, but I wouldn't wait. 'course you can always email them too.

Hey thanks you got Ecu yet? Did you feel the same increase like the Y-pipe?

Thanks

Its in!

DRove to their location last week to go pick it up. But its been sitting in the box until today.

I wanted to put it in after I did little "semi-tuneup" on my car (new 02 sensors, knock sensor, bottle of injector cleaner, and the Drop resistor mod)

so after all those, and about 2 hrs tryin to remove my stock ECU, the new one is IN! And can DEFINETELY feel the difference. VERY STRONG pull mostly felt in 1st and 2nd gear. Most noticable increase of power seems to be between around 2k to 5k. Cant wait for the rev-limiter update as well as a MEVI!
