GD on remote start. Any interest?

I did mine on turkey day.
shoulda took me 2 Hrs. But I tried to listen to the color codes that all the listings showed and couldn't find the freakin' white/green wire
BTW you Will need to hook up your accessory wire to have your blower motor.
and make sure you have all the neccessary tools handy before you start the job

hmm sounds good. But another member just told me that If I do get that, (remote start with works with factory remote) that I will not be able to unlock my doors with the remote once I remote start and that I will have to either shut the car off to open them or, open the door with the key. IS that how it works with this system too?

But then obviously you'd have to lock them again.
I personally wouldn,t leave my car running with the doors unlocked

Nice, thanks so much! I'll let you know later this week, after I find out the answer to my question (which I'll start a new post about too)...
How much more difficult to install would an alarm be? I can't imagine much worse than a remote start/keyless entry, but I've never done anything like this before. Most I've done is installed a complete stereo system w/rewiring...

question regarding the remotes... are there any remote starters that have a remote that has programmable keys or anything? Here's my deal, on my car keys, i've got the regular nissan remote, then i've got my garage door opener remote... so for me to add a remote starter, that's 3 big key fobs.
any way to combine the three?

just wondering???
I got this from the crimestopper rs-900 VI manual in the troubleshooting section
"VEHICLE STARTS BUT “CHECK ENGINE” LIGHT COMES ON OR ENGINE RUNS BADLY: (2 parts)
1. Many 1990-UP General Motors cars/trucks ... Check with installer to see if this circuit is present and has been properly connected to the system.
2. In some cases [commonly Nissan vehicles], an additional “Start” (Cranking) circuit is required for the vehicle to
run properly. An external relay must added to the installation. Check with your installer for details."
Does anyone know about this or had any problems with this?
I am looking to get a remote start for my 1996 Infiniti I30 and have been doing some research.
Also I have the same question as before, when my car is running I can't lock the doors with the original fob, will this be an issue with the remote start as well?

You probably have to change the lock settings to get around it check your owners manual

Sooooooooo,
should I just pay the local shop $250 for the remote start and professional install, (soldered connections and heat shrinked). Since I've never done this before and would rather not screw up anything and have to pay more in the long run ? or is it that easy to spend $60-$70 on the remote start and do it all myself ? is there a guide for installing on a fourth gen remote start with tips? That would be most helpful. the rs-900 also says not to use a test light cause this would harm your car electronics....

I'm in -- just let me know how much for the Crimestopper remote (no alarm) w/ shipping to zip code 20148. I just moved to VA from FL, welcomed by almost a foot of snow in two days -- I definitely want a remote starter!

for crimestopper, once you remote start the car, it'll keep the doors locked, then you press the unlock button and get in, turn the key to on, put foot on brake and go
if someone breaks into the car or something and steps on brake pedal without key in ON position, it'll shut off the car
if you start the car and forget about it, it'll turn off after 15 minutes or so (you can adjust the timer)
also, you can hit the start button if the car is on and the key is in the ignition and the car will still run - this is useful for turbo cooldown or if you need to run in and out somewhere but dont want to turn the car off
Nissan does use two starter wires but you can just use a relay to power them both on remote starting

ok SOOooooo,
What kind of relay do I need or can I as put earlier just hook the two wires together to enable the remote start (will that damage my electronics? they obviously have two starter wires for a reason), and I am still confused with the whole doorlocking thing. do I just wire the remote start as said in the directions and I will be able to unlock the doors while the car is running?
I dunno, I don't want to start cutting wires and end up with no car to drive to work on Monday or not have it work the I want to. where should the remote start be placed in the the car? I have many more questions, unless I have step by step instructions with pictures, maybe I should just let the shop do it,....
----not getting that warm and fuzzy feeling about this now
Although I did install a heated seat in my I30 without prior knowledge ( I also had a reference from a web site that had pictures and step by step instructions), but if I messed that up I could have always put my seat back in and drove away

You should not under ANY circumstance cut ANY of your car's wires to install the remote start.
I installed mine using scotchlok connectors. and it works just fine.
I know that most places mention the 2 wires my 92 has 2 wires.
I didn't use a relay I just used a jumper wire.

So When are we going to get the ball rolling on this deal

It has been like 2 weeks since this thread started and no sign of anybody actually buying it. All the questions being asked are good ones but like you should if you know how to crimp/connector wires and to cut wires then its all good. Let the dealing begin!!!!
