So, according to that article, even if I coat the pipe with a high-temp spray enamel, it will ruin the aluminum?

This would be a better question for the 4th gen forum because none of the people here have Y-pipes...yet! But I haven't heard that at all...everyone I've heard from says get one. Just give me your info if you're in.

By the way, we're up to 47 right now, if no one back out!

I wish. He said $160 is as low as he can go. I'm just glad he's doing all this.

Just one quick thing the pipes are aluminized steel, meaning, I think, an aluminum coating over a steel pipe to prevent rust, not an aluminum pipe. I think

96greenmax, you are totally right. It is a steel pipe that is covered by aluminum. That is why it rusts...the moisture gets to the steel, and it has the chance of rusting. However, most people don't seem to talk of that much trouble with this. All your stock piping is usually made out of this, and it does fine.

I don't know how much it would cost to powercoat the y-pipe, but I know wheels are not cheap to power coat.

I know if you're really worried you can just go through his regular site and pay regular price for either the stainless steel or he also has ceramic coated Ypipes. Right now they're 275 and up, plus shipping. It sounds like Cattman will also be doing a deal on his pipes (they're all SS), maybe in a month or so. But I think you should get in on THIS deal. haha.

i think people are making way to much of deal out of the rusting issue.
My stock pipe is holding up well after 5 years and all you get is a 3 year warranty form Nissan. With this one you get 4 years and I’m sure it will last a lot longer and for $160 and a 4 year guarantee what else would you want. Most of these pipes won’t even be on the cars for that long.

so go ahead and jump on this cause you wont get a better deal.

Im in the NE, and i jumped on, btw this warranty... is it in writing, or is it all just on his word. :X Cant you get a 500 degree paint, and spray it, when it says ruins it, i think it means the look of the AL, not the actually pipe though i dunno?

it doesn't cost that much too much to powdercoat the y-pipe. my friend had all his turbo piping (on 2000 prelude) powdercoated for around $50. and that was with numerous pipes not just one. size-wise i would say that the pipes (turbo piping and y-pipe) are about the same.

I have taken it on and off of one car to another. No issues and if u guys can get it for 160, without the wait like budget...this is too good to be true.

Not sure if this has been asked before, but is this group deal for 3rd gens as well? If it is, I just might have to get one at this outstanding price.

Btw, props to budha56 for organizing this.

Edit: when would the deadline be for the next shipment? I'm trying to gauge how quickly I have to get $160 bucks for this. I'd be able to do it if it were in a week or so.

Well, the forum's back up! And I had quite a list of pm's. haha. Right now, if everyone that has said they're in gives me the rest of their info and actually pays we'll be at 63, and it's still growing fast. Here are some answers to some commonly answered questions.

Send the check or money order to my address (in the first post, Evansville IN). Make checks payable to "Warpspeed Performance" and money orders payable to "Warpspeed Performance or YOUR NAME"...that way IF something happens you can still get your money back.

It is good for all maximas 1989-2001.

I'm sending what I have on Wed 2/11. If ALL your info is in before I send it, then you'll be on that list. I'll probably send at least one more list between then and when the deal ends on the 21st.

I'm going to ask about if the warrenty is in writing, and exactly what would void it (for example, some places void the warrenty if you use exhaust wrap or if you spray coat it with something).

He still hasn't told me when/where he wants you to send the paypal. I'll post that as soon as I get it. So don't ask. haha.

In a bit I'm going to post the updated list.

Keep 'em coming!

Thanks!
Matt

Yep. I told him on Friday I had about 50 people and it was still growing. He's ordered extra parts and all that. It might take them a bit, but it should be a matter of days, not months.

The OFFICIAL LIST

Here's what I've got so far. This is the OFFICIAL list, so if you're not on there then or if there are any mistakes please a)forgive me and b)tell me ASAP. I'm going to send the info on all these people that don't have any comments sometime Wednesday. If you have a question by your name, that means I won't send your info in until you get me all the info I asked for in that original post (again, if I missed it then I'm sorry. Please follow steps a and b above). I'll let you all know more details as they unfold.

Anyone else want to add a cat onto this deal?

Paypal!

Here's the paypal info. You can send your payments starting on FRIDAY.

PAYPAL PAYMENT SHOULD BE SENT TO: bmfjeep@yahoo.com
WE NEED NAME AND ADDRESS
PHONE NUMBER
YEAR OF MAXIMA
MODEL OF MAXIMA, GXE, GLE OR SE (AND IF YOU WANT A CAT)
COLOR OF DESIRED DECAL, RED, BLACK, SILVER GRAY OR WHITE
Send $160 for the Ypipe, $245 if you want the pipe and cat.

Here's what he said about the warrenty:

IN ALMOST 6 YEARS WE HAVE YET TO REPLACE A SECTION OF ALUMINIZED STEEL TUBING.

HEADER WRAP VOIDS OUR WARRANTY, BUYER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING, SPRAYCOAT WILL NOT VOID WARRANTY BUT WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR COATING

OUR WARRANTY IS ON OUR WEBSITE http://www.warpspeedperformance.com/about.htm

There has been a request that he include the bolts in case yours are rusted. He said if you order a catalytic converter, he'll throw those in for you. The Maxima has studs and nuts which connect the pipe to the cat. If a stud breaks off, just replace it with a nut and bolt.

Finally, he told me that he thinks he needs to limit this to 60 pipes , so if everyone goes through then it's full. I'm trying to get him to let more in, but until then I'm starting to take up a waiting list to fill the spots of those who back out. If he does extend it, those after the first 60 might have to wait longer, but I'm seeing what I can do.

If you have any other questions, let me know.

Matt
