Cattman Headers for the 95-03 Max are here - save $100 on GD
Did anyone ever get an install quote for install on these headers. I stopped at one place and they said about a grand to install in labor fees and would need the car for about 2 or 3 days. Anyone have better luck with quotes. I really want the headers but dont have an extra grand to fork out just for install.

sweet that changes my mind alot. I think the place i went to didnt like foreign cars all that much. They had like 4 mustangs outside, a shelby gt500 inside and then working on a dodge. But i can remember from awhile ago i asked if they would do a dyno tune on it and they said they dont know foreign cars and when i asked for the quote they called some handbook and said it was going to be 5 hours on the rear manifold itself. Bump for the headers i think i want them as soon as i find a good place to install them.

I know a good place to install them.....in your garage. Labor=$0.
Got an update from Brian. He stated that if the set he receives this week is up to satisfaction as far as installation and quality, the headers/y pipe combo could possibly ship next Friday for those that pre ordered.

how much will shipping be to 33126 for these headers? also are you already taking orders? we give a deposit or we have to pay in full right when we order? when will u start shipping these out? will u have a group deal of headers/cat-back together as u did 2 years ago?
sorry for all my questions, but i really wanna get these before u run out. (i really hope you take maybe like 50% deposit and pay the rest before is shipped)

I'm estimating, because I don't know the precise "in-the-box" weight yet, but my best guess is $48 to ship to you from AZ, fully insured, and that's the way we'd write up the order.
We've been quietly accepting header orders for months, with the understanding that they'll basically be ready when they're ready, but now that's coming up soon. Its tough to wait, but since we don't accept any pre-payment for backorders, customers may get impatient, but they generally don't get angry. To be clear, we won't charge anyone's CC until the header we're sending them is in our hands, ready to ship.
Our first production run is for 25 units, but that will be followed quickly by others. We expect to offer this system continuously, so no worries about missing out. We're holding roughly 25 orders now, but since some of them are months old there will surely be a few cancellations when we start giving order-holders a heads up in a few days (so they can make sure their CCs are ready to go).
My point is that we will continue to take orders and fill them as the parts become available, first batch, second or third, etc.. Depending on the initial response, it may be a while before we actually have them sitting on the shelf, ready to ship, so if someone is serious about wanting a set sooner than later, its a good idea to call in that order.
I'll receive the first finished production set on Tuesday, and will install on my car to make sure everything's good to go. If I give the green light, we'll be shipping the first 10 units during the week that begins with Halloween, if not, we'll make the changes and lose a few days. This is a pretty complex system, and I REALLY want to make sure its spot-on before we send it out.
The headers will not be discounted below their introductory price ($799 for the first 50 units sold) but we will be offering discounts on all Cattman exhaust equipment purchased along with them. We've got a pretty good inventory of FastCats, Cattbacks and O2 simulators to back that up.
Give us a call on Monday, once we get a few cancellations you'll very likely get in on the first batch of 25, but if not you'll be holding a place in line.

Thanks for the fast response, Brian. still one of my questions was left blank. If i want to give a deposit for this first batch you are getting, is it the full price or a fraction of the price and the rest of the money when is ready to ship?
i really wouldn't like to give you my payment information and then have u charge my card when you are ready to ship because who knows if by that day i have money on the it. i'd rather give u a deposit when i have the money than getting an overdraft fee.

Sorry, I didn't understand that it was your preference to pay ahead when you knew the funds would be available. We try to be as accomodating as possible. Since this is a unique situation I'll send you a PM and we'll cover it offline.
Brian
Just out of curiosity, after we call in our order, what is the average time our cc gets charged? I want to get my order in but need a little time to move some $ around. Thanks.

Since the headers are backordered pending production, we won't charge your CC until the specific part we're sending you is in our hands. I can't say precisely which day we'll ship the first 10 header sets, and we've got over 20 backorders right now, so we wouldn't be running the transaction for a couple of weeks at the very soonest.

Spoke to him this morning. Says he hopes to receive the revised set tomorrow and have installed over the weekend. Once that happens and he is completely satisfied, he will give the manufacturer the go ahead to mass produce. The first batch should be about 20 - 25 sets. If everything goes well I think it should be around 2 weeks we can expect so packages to be going out.

Alright, thanks
Oh, the impatience of youth. I'm reminded of the story about the old bull and the you bull standing together up on a knoll, looking down at a herd of attractive cows (or whatever the females are called). The young bull pipes up, "Hey, pops, what you say about us runnin' on down there and gettin' us a couple of them cows?" The old bull clamly replies, "Why don't we just walk on down there and get them all!"
Anyone know if Blemco ever resolved the fitment problem they had being able to use their Lower Tie Bars with the first generation of Cattman headers? I've tried contacting Matt Blehm and no reply, and posted with no definitive answer. I'd like to be able to use both, but if I have to choose one or the other, it's the headers.

To the best of my knowledge, Matt has not been able to get his hands on a header-equipped car to check the fit or see if its even possible to work around the header. If someone has, or will soon have, a Cattman header in the Houston area they should try to contact him. That said, Matt has indicated that his time for this sort of thing is limited due to other things he's involved with.

I can't provide daily updates, but here's where things stand now on the headers. I received the final check-fit set late last week and put on my '02. During the previous fitment checks, we had never finished the installation by putting the cross member back on. We'd see something that wasn't right, document it, take it off the car and send it back. This time everything fit great, so we mounted up the crossmember... And the y-pipe portion was up against it. My fault for not checking that before, so it was even more irritating.
Anyway, I said the heck with it and drove over to SoCal Sunday and we did a hands-on fitment together at the fabricator's. Small changes were recorded and implemented in the production fixture, and that's the end of that process.
They'll start welding together the subassemblies that have already been made this week and I've got my fingers crossed that we'll have the first finished products sometime next week.
BTW, after that trip to Cali, I've got >1000 miles on this new set. They run REAL hard, and sound great.

Same info on the 4th gens, they're exactly the same, except the 02/03 (and some 01) versions do not have the EGR port. We are sending out the first set (with the EGR port) to a customer with a 4th gen to confirm the EGR position.

Sure. We finalized the design and addressed a couple lingering fitment issues the week before Thanksgiving when I drove over to LA for an on-site fitment session, and they're in production now. The holiday and the absence of one TIG welder has slowed things down a bit but i hope to begin shipping (or at least receive some here) sometime during the first week of December.
I think I probably mentioned it, but there's a set on my car now. The sound is phenomenal (with a Cattman FastCat and Cattback) and the performance rips (when one of my coilpacks isn't acting up).
Since I've been using an '02 Max to test the fit, we'll need to confirm the location of the EGR valve before sending out the backordered headers for 95-00 (and some 01) Maximas. I've got someone lined up to do that, but I expect that we'll start shipping the VQ35DE headers (no EGR) from the oldest 25 orders while we wait for that confirmation.
It looks like we'll be able to fill backorders received by early October and cover the rest of the orders we're holding now in the second batch that will follow shortly. Anyone who hasn't ordered yet should consider doing it now because once these start shipping we're likely to get a slug of orders that will lengthen the waiting line. No money required until your headers are ready to ship.

IMHO, the only way to reliably check the performance of a new part is to do the before and after dyno runs within 24 hours, in similar weather conditions, same tank of fuel, using the same dyno and technician, but my circumstances didn't allow that when we put on the first production set on my car.
No doubt that they'll be tested soon by customers, and I look forward to hearing some numbers. I may do some runs for fun, just to see what I'm making at that moment, but they won't be comparable to runs I did last year when the gen2 s/s headers were being tested.
I can say that what I consider to be a fairly accurate butt dyno showed a major performance boost over the original NZ header set that I took off to put these on. It sort of caught me off guard; it just didn't seem like the gen2 stainless headers made as much of a difference, but that's too subjective to make any claims.
BTW, the NZ header set I just took off my car is in great condition (ceramic-coated carbon steel) and is a good buy @ $499. Because ceramic coating is neither bullitproof or forever, these should be installed somewhere with mild winters. Check the Cattman Weekly Sale ad in the GD forum if interested.
