I'm a penniless college student, but I have always fed my Nissans Mobil1 (from my Sentra to my 240 to my Maxima). I thought it was a great oil (and it is), and it wasn't too expensive from Walmart.

I finally broke down and bought some Amsoil, but I paid too much, since I neglected to read this thread first. If I had to buy Amsoil again at the price I originally paid, I would just switch back to Mobil. Now that I've seen this thread, I think I'll be sticking with Amsoil and purchasing a case from Ed next time I'm due for an oil change. I'm also coming up on 60,000 miles very soon, and I think I'm going to try using Amsoil ATF.

You'll be hearing from me after my next paycheck, talkinghorse.

While I can still sell you the products for dealer cost, your order would be governed by the Canadian dealer price list and tax structure...Canadian prices are higher than what is listed in this post as the prices are in Canadian dollars. The point of contact I identified above is much more familiar with your local rules than I am...would also avoid exchange rates, international charges, etc on the currency if you were to pay with paypal versus direct with a credit card.

If my recommended source can't help, let me know and I'll do my best. I have sold products to several folks from Ontario. NOZMaximus is correct in that your oil would come from the Product Center in Mississauga. He could arrange for you to either pick up the oil or have it shipped directly to you.
Hello Ed,

Thank you for refering me to Nozar. He was great for service, and my oil got here in 2 days!

So far, with the AMSOIL, my fuel consumption went down to 7.7L/100KM from 8.2 - 8.6L/100KM after my 250KM highway trip. Regardless, 0.5L/100KM fuel savings is great from just chainging my engine oil!

Thanks again for a FANTASTIC product.

While I have much comparative data between AMSOIL, Mobil-1 and other competing lubricants, I do not want to open this forum to an open debate on the merits of a particular product. No matter what position one takes, there will be individuals who will have an opposing view. There is a link on the AMSOIL homepage entitled "Comparing AMSOIL to the Competition". People may take shots at this since AMSOIL is publishing the data...if you question the results, that's your prerogative, but let's please not debate it here. AMSOIL also prints comparative data on the labels of many of their products...I don't know of any other lubricant company who does this. There are other sources on the web that contain a wealth of information...

While the numbers are the numbers, the most significant difference
between AMSOIL and M-1 is difficult, if not impossible to quantify. My customers universally state that their engines are more quiet, more responsive and smoother with AMSOIL...again, tough to quantify but it's that "feeling" that makes believers out of people.

M-1 is a good product and it is widely available. AMSOIL is also a very
good product; it is competitively priced (particularly with my
discount); and while it is not available in every discount store, I can have
it delivered to your door usually within a day or two. AMSOIL offers a
complete line of premium lubricants and filtration products and their
products are formulated for severe use and extended drain
intervals...this makes AMSOIL products a good value and they provide an extra margin of protection for car enthusiasts and for those who neglect their engines, alike.

I have a near-100% retention rate with customers which indicates to me that people are very happy with the product and the service I provide. Many of my customers are former M-1 users and some even work for various retailers who sell M-1.

It all boils down to a matter of choice.

no pun intended i thought it came from the same company, same oil thats all. but good to know. how often should one change their oil with amsoil, any proper way of switching over from dino oil?

Not all synthetics are the same. Different companies use different base stocks and additives in their formulations...base stocks/additive packages vary widely in quality and the blenders combine components in different combinations to achieve the desired result(s). Some companies shoot for a target (low) price and then back into the formulation because they believe a lower priced product will sell better. There's probably some merit to that marketing strategy for the mass market; however AMSOIL doesn't operate like that.

Since AMSOIL was first introduced in 1972, their products have been formulated for extended drains. AMSOIL currently offers several different "families" of oils, each with different drain recommendations. OCI's are a personal thing and you have to be comfortable with your decision. The XL oils are recommended for 6-mos/7500 miles or longer based on OEM recommendations or with an on-board engine oil life monitor. Under normal service, the standard line of synthetics are recommended for up to 12 mos or 25,000 miles; and the Series 2000 is recommended for up to 12 mos or 35,000 miles, whichever comes first. The new EaO filters are recommended for up to 12 mos/25,000 miles. I personally use Series 2000 0w-30 and change it every 6-mos (spring and fall, ~9,000+ mile intervals)...I've had the used oil analyzed on several occasions and the results are always very good. Notwithstanding, it gives me peace of mind to change it semi-annually and it's really not that expensive...the car is certainly worth it.

There are different schools of thought on the change-over procedure. AMSOIL recommends/offers an engine flush which is suppose to clean old residue from the system prior to the introduction of synthetics. I've used the flush, but if an engine has been regularly maintained and is clean inside, I generally skip the flush process and just install the new oil...your first change on the synthetics might get dirty a little more quickly due to the left-over petroleum oil, but that is normal whether you use the flush or not.

No aftermarket cone-types...just OEM replacements. The EaA-74 is a planar type and will fit the factory air box.

Hey, can I get a quote on 5 quarts of GL-4 (no filter replacement there, right?), a case of the best oil EVAR, and 3 SDF-20 filters shipped to 93101? And about how long would that take, from ordering to my door?

Thanks
