I'm interested in getting a CF hood and possbly trunk lid for my 2k3. I'll be painting everything to match my car.
But are these hoods the typical fiberglass hood with just 1 layer of CF on top for looks? Why can't we just get them directly from Carbon EFX? Didn't RedlineMax also try to hijack a deal when they were making CF eyelids?

Redlinemax.com did not hijack anyone. We told the guy that we could HELP him in buying the rest of the eyelids if he couldn''t meet his minimum that he needed to get the eyelids at the price. Also, As I posted earlier, carbon efx is also now only a wholesale distributor!!!

Colored part is actually colored carbon hybrid.
Some Co.s do produce parts that are hybrids using kevlar and other types of glasses but there normally more expensive. More time is put into those products.
What gives carbon fiber its strength is the temperature used in the heat treatment processes when bonding the fibers, as well as the thread count used in the weave and the type of resin used. ( higher thread counts equals stronger product, but heavier)
The parts made available to the aftermarket scene are not created in an extensive process such as this.
They are simple woven sheets with a low rated number of filaments per thread.
They are created mostly for "looks". So they will have the fiberglassed undersction to give them there frame and structure. To have parts made entirely of carbon fiber would be $$$$, but they would be much stronger and durable.

Sorry to hijack the thread Corey.

Hi! You are wrong again , the colored part on "HYBRID Carbon Fabrics" is only Kevlar. Since Kevlar actually costs more than CF then expect to see a price increase when this type of fabric is used. A really nice thing about having Kevlar interlaced with CF is that it greatly increases it's impact resistance. If you would like to learn more about composites there are many sites like: compositesone.com, fiberglast.com, they have a learning centers where you can buy books. I suggest that you read up a little before making posts like this one and the previous posts that you made on my FRP kit GD thread. It's unfair to other org members for you to post incorrect information.

Thanks!

Haha the trunk lid normally is 625.00 we are taking 50 off. which is 575.00 shipped. Ionic is the only manufacturer of the kit they are allowing us to only sell them at this price on this deal.

Corey, correct me if I am wrong but you did say that you also had CF hoods for the 5th gens available? If so, I have two questions. First, can you get pictures of the 5th gen hood up or direct me to a picture of them on your or Carbon EFX's site? Two, will the 5th gen hoods be the same $400 price you mentioned?

Yes they are still on sale. Also the Colored Carbon is 85.00 more.

Cale, I have never seen anyone put the liner back into a carbon hood.

When I get the hood, I will add the extra clear. Thats when i get it.
The hinges are bolted onto the car, the hood attaches to them. This is what allows you to open and close it.
The hood pins are an added security to help keep the hood close.
The pins are attached to the rad. support and holes are needed to be drilled though the hood to allow the pins to go through the hood, and then locked from above when the hood is closed.

You do them yourself, or you can have a body shop do the install of the hood and the pins.

You dont "have" to add the hood pins.. do you? Sometimes it looks cheesy.

The price given is actually a rock bottom price. I don't do deals based upon numbers. I just lower them to a price that everyone can enjoy without having to wait for a certain amount of buyers!!

Sorry if any of you guys have called today and we did not answer. Everyone here has the flu and is out sick!!! We should be up and functional tomorrow
