Note, I've changed the date in my posts, but the final deadline for receiving Quaife orders will be 25 March, not 31 March. We have to allow time for monies to be moved around, etc. and the 31st would not have worked.

We're looking for deposits en route from a couple of other guys, with interest from several more. As I mentioned before, we're sending the deposit to Quaife this week, and will continue accepting orders/deposits until 25 March. Delivery is expected in the late April/early May timeframe.

I should be able to get my money order in by March...Hopefully we'll hit the 24number. I need to sell my 00vi that I just bought but I'll find a way to raise the funds. I know I need one!
Im from an australian forum and it was suggested I look at this group buy, I have a nissan pulsar with 1.8L engine and RS5F70A gearbox. Can someone please confirm whether this is the same gearbox as what the diff center in this thread is designed for? I tried emailing the thread organiser but havent had any reply. If ive been given bad info sorry for wasting your time.

I've sent Gregor a reply, but I don't know the direct answer to his question. Can someone with a 95-01 Maxima 5MT check their manufacturer's plate to compare gearbox codes?

Hopefully, the Quaife dimension sheet will be useful to determine if there's a fit. [Like I say, check axle dimensions and spline count first.] We actually sold one to a Kiwi who put it in a Nissan rally transmission of some kind, but I never knew the details.

I have not actually looked at the code stamped on a 4th gen Maxima tranny, but according to info I found on the Org/online a while ago, the 4th gen open diff code is RS5F50A and the VLSD is RS5F50V. So Gregor, yours is not the same, but perhaps yours is still compatible with the Maxima Quaife (i.e., if the diffs on the RS5F50A and RS5F70A are the same). You'd have to do some research to find out. Good luck.
EDIT: according to this page, you have the same tranny as a Sentra: http://www.vibratesoftware.com/html_...nsmissions.htm

They haven't been available for several years, but when we were selling the first batch, the price was $1295. That was back when you could buy a British pound for $1.35; now its about $2.00. The price should be 50% more, but its actually about 10% less.
Now THAT is a good deal!

I'm going to guess its not a fit. If you had a RS5F70V rather than a RS5F70A, then the Quaife for the Sentra would fit, but I don't think there is a Quaife solution for your open diff tranny.

There have to be more potential Quaife owners out there. Don't forget this deal and remember that we can continue accepting orders till 25 March.
It might be interesting to read the text that RT Quaife has on their UK website about their ATB differential:
The 'Automatic Torque Biasing' differential is Quaife's unique patented design, and is an after-market differential that provides smooth, constant traction for racing or slippery road conditions.
Suitable as an ideal replacement for any front, rear or four wheel drive application, these ATB differentials have the added benefit of no adverse effect on the steering of a front wheel drive vehicle.
Quaife ATB differentials have been used in a wide array of applications, from Formula 1 cars to emergency and public utility vehicles, where all weather mobility is essential, and where the product must perform in the most demanding of conditions.
Available to suit a very wide range of vehicle applications, from Alfa Romeo to Volkswagen and including Ford, BMW, Honda, MG & Rover, Vauxhall/Opel, as well as a range of light commercial vehicles.
The characteristics of the differential are that it progressively locks as torque increases; there are no plates or clutches to wear out, as the more conventional limited-slip designs incorporate. The ATB differential is particularly effective in combating the effects of FWD torque steer and understeer.
Quaife Engineering also offer their ATB differential with a lifetime warranty [see terms and conditions], as a demonstration of the quality of the product.
The Ultimate Differential
The Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing Differential enables your car to accelerate quicker and corner faster. How?
Simply by getting the power to the ground!
The Quaife differential powers both drive wheels under nearly all conditions, instead of just one.
With an normal open differential, fitted as standard on most cars, much precious power is wasted through wheel spin under acceleration. This happens because the open differential shifts power to the wheel with less grip - along the path of least resistance.
The Quaife differential, however, does just the opposite. It senses which wheel has the better grip, and automatically biases the power to that wheel. It does this smoothly and constantly, and without ever completely removing power from the other wheel.
In cornering, while accelerating out of a turn, the QUAIFE biases greater power to the outside wheel, reducing inside-wheel spin. This allows the driver to begin accelerating earlier, exiting the corner at a higher speed.
The Quaife differential also controls loss of traction when the drive wheels are on slippery surfaces such as ice and snow or mud, providing the appropriate biased traction needed to overcome these adverse conditions. The Quaife ATB differential provides constant and infinitely variable drive. Power is transferred automatically without the use of normal friction pads or plates seen in other limited-slip designs.
The Quaife ATB differential's unique design offers maximum traction, improves handling and steering, and puts the power where it is needed most. A definite advantage, whether you are on the track or on the street.
The Quaife differential is extremely strong and durable, and since it is gear-operated, it has no plates or clutches that can wear out and need costly and regular replacement. There is no maintenance required to the unit, so once installed the unit can be forgotton, apart from the better road responses.
The Quaife differential is great for street driving or racing. Racers don't have to put up with locking mechanisms or spools that tear the steering wheel out of their hands when cornering. Because it behaves like an open differential during ordinary driving, street drivers will have trouble telling it's there until pushing the cars towards its limits.
The Quaife differential is proven in everything from SCCA Rallying to drag racing and Formula 1. It provides autocrossers with such an advantage, it has become "required" equipment for a winning effort.
Expand your vehicle's limits with the Quaife ATB Differential!

Hey Dan,
lucky you! it would be interesting to hear what you did there. Did Caesar get you hooked on V? Eat any whitebait fritters or bluff oysters? Did you enjoy the NZ beers - Macs, Speights, Montheiths? Spend time on the South Island? Man, do I miss that place.
Anyway, I hope you and others can get more deposits in by the 25th, its a great deal. Does Caesar have one in his car? If not, he could sure use one.

And yes I did like the V, lol, and most of the beers. Wasn't too fond of the Speights but add Tui to the ones you mentioned as a favorite. I also stayed a couple days up at Chris' house and installed and tuned an EU for him, had a good time there too. I know he'd like to have a Quaife too but I don't know what his finances are like at the moment...
For me the question is whether I'm staying 5-spd or not. Yet TBD... (D for decided
)
I may have missed it but I read over pretty much the entire thread. When would the additional $789 be due and would THAT portion need to be paid by MO also or would there be other payment options.
I'll need to send the balance due Quaife by the time production is complete (roughly the first week of May), so I'll start collecting the balances of $789 + shipping (from AZ to the customer) a few days prior to that.
Paying the balance by CC is fine, no reason to requires MOs for the final payment. We needed MOs for deposits to 1) lock in the commitment, and 2) avoid violating the CC merchant's agreement, which discourages holding funds for more than 30 days without shipping the product. We knew the queue for Quaife production would be at least twice that long.
The process of wiring the last payment to Quaife, shipping the small pallet of Q by air, and transit through Customs can take anywhere from 1-2 weeks. So, the time lag between making the final payment and shipping the Qs from CP to customers should be roughly 10-17 days.

That would be pretty cool, but typically we'd have to order 30+ units to get them to do a new design, and it could only be done for one transmission type. The 5-speed Max trannies with open diff and the VLSD cannot use the same differential, and that's very likely the case with the 2 different 6-speed transmissions. We'd have to do the research to see exactly what one version could fit - hopefully up through 06. - but there just aren't that many out there...
We'd have to have at least 25 orders up front.
