The gases inside of the bulb are altered to produce the golden yellow color. Also, scientifically speaking, 4300k gives out the most light output. But here is a picture comparison of 4300k vs 12000k in the same car. You can see the difference for yourself. There is very little. So in the end, I say just pick your favorite color.
12000k left - 4300k right

Question, I'm running a 8k hid on my headlights and I want to downgrade them to 4300k. Do I change the whole set up or just change the bulbs?

THe foglights output may be green because of yellow lenses in the foglights, may be a reflection from the garage door color or he took a picture during the warm up period.

The price for a 10000k xenon kit and a pair of D2R bulbs is $220 shipped.

For a 01 Maxima with factory fog lights can I just replace the bulbs with 6000k H3 hids or do I need to purchase the kit?

Did you have any problems with the bulbs fitting into the stock housing? Do they mount the same inside the housing, meaning had the same small tab on the end that locks in?

operatic, I was looking at your harness. So do you have to run a line to the battery to hook these things up? Is that what the positive lead is for? So, the connections are not plug-and-play?

You would need to purchase our whole kit.

There is one wire that you ground (black wire) and one wire that you put to a 12v source (positive of battary) After that, the connection that goes into your factory harness is plugs right in. The only thing your factory connection does is act as a gate to turn on the HIDs.
