Why is the dual tipped 2.5" version like $120 more than the single tipped?

Am I missing something?

I don't mean to sound cocky, as I am probably going to buy this anyway...

At that price differential, you could buy a single tip 2.5" and a nice magnaflow muffler and get it welded on for nearly the same price.

Well one reason could be that the dual tip is a higher demand... its value is still reasonable for ppl to buy it..... bizniz! lol

Our single tip exhaust originally sold at $259.99 shipped. It is now on sale for $229.99 shipped to help clear inventory. The cost of the dual tipped muffler is much higher than the single tipped muffler. We tried our best to keep the price as low as possible for the maxima community. We are not upping the price just because we know there is demand. Making these in large quantity is not cheap. haha.

understandable... i think its priced very fairly...

I think to improve sales you guys should try to get some good installed pics along with a video.. of startup.. idle.. and rev...

also.. do you know the size of the resonator? and muffler?

$229.99

Unless you want dual tip which is $324.99 + $50 shipping

Count me in when they are ready to ship, think I'll get a rear sway bar then too.

The single tip is $229.99 shipped.

I keep emailing them about resonator size and muffler. Having problems getting a response. They're almost always really busy. Will let you know.

I dunno if this is a stupid question but, with either the single or dual-tipped is it 2.5" ID or OD?

this is important to me as well... ID or OD

for example,... the exhaust on ebay that looks like your single tip.. and maybe even your single tip.. has been reported as 2.25" ID ,..

+2
I wish someone would take a pic of a ruler next to the actual pipe, because the ebay ad is not very clear.

So is this also going to be a resold ebay catback? There's pretty convincing proof that the single tip 2.5" is the exact same one you can get on ebay for $130 shipped. Rebadge it "custom maxima" and double the price... I would have never thought of that! But really if these pop up on ebay for half your price after you start selling them, that would be awesome.

I just always assumed that with the single tip exhaust. But everyone acted like it was an original design.

They are having trouble finding a shop who can bend the pipe. Giving the fair price of the 2.5" dual tip I doubt when it/if the 3" ever comes out it won't be too much cheaper than Cattmans who's has been available.

*sigh* There's a mandrel place around here. I might as well just go to them and tell them to copy the cattman I have on here except in 3"

I bet they'll take my money.

Just checking to see if they've had any luck on the shop search. If the price gets up there, I will feel kind of misled though. This thread started off with the price point / ballpark of $425.

I was ideally going to hack off the muffler anyways, but if we're talking Cattman prices, I'd rather go custom or settle for a 2.5" ID. If CM can even produce a 3" ID B-pipe for the less than $350-400, it would keep my interest for a while.

A big thing for a lot of east coast guys is that Maxus is coming in June, and I know a lot of people trying to ready their Maxima for the event/show, myself included. The quicker CM can get this out, the more profitable it will be.

CM- Is there any update on the 2.5" ...

pics?
videos?
size of muffler & resonator?
is the ID of the pipe 2.5" or is it 2.25" like some single tipped systems.?
Price?
shipping?
when/If it will be ready?

also... can you just make a new thread in this forum Dedicated to the 2.5" dual tip?
...I'd love a 3" but from a realistic pov, i dont see it happening guys..

honestly, its 3" or bust. Since the cattman is so ridiculously pricey, i cant see custommaxima making anything less than a killing on this

Cattman's price isn't any more than almost any 3" bolton exhaust you can get for a Z (for example). I'm not saying that 700 isn't a lot to spend at once, but exhaust work can be expensive when you buy the thick wall stainless and SS-packed muffler/resonator + tips, then find a mandrel bender to fab it all up. It's also more expensive to produce them in small batches like Cattman does.

To get to CM's $425 price point, you'd have to skimp on basically everything (cheap muffler/res, thin SS) and produce 50+ at a time. Nothing wrong with that, but we'll see if there are any side effects (IE sound) like the single tip 2.5" that sounds like poop with headers because of the tiny resonator and muffler.

I didn't mean to say cattmans is overpriced or that $700 is a lot for a 3", just that $700 is a lot of cash regardless

Ok, got ya, I took "ridiculously pricey" in literal terms considering the normal connotation of something that is "ridiculous."

Just FYI to all you fellas, when it comes to exhaust piping, there is basically no such thing as either a 2.5" ID or 3" ID. The cattman and custom maxima, probably every other bolton "2 1/2" exhaust that we can get is actually more like 2 3/8" or so ID.

The cattman 3", and any 3" exhaust pipe you find is around 2 7/8" as well... The flanges are 3" ID, and the pipe fits into them.

What they call 3" or 2.5" piping is referring to OD, although some people will claim other wise, just take a measuring device to it and see for yourself.

right thats understandable... what i was getting at.. is some of the 130$ systems on ebay are advertised as "2.25" piping"...so one would assume that you might be dealing with 2 1/8" ID...big difference between 2 1/8" and 2 3/8"(for a 2 1/2" pipe) in terms of flow . no?

it would all still be realitive.. cause the difference between 2 3/8(2.5") and 2 7/8 (3") is still a half inch.. and from 2 1/8(2.25") and 2 3/8(2.5") is still roughly quarter inch.. but thanks for the clearity

and on that note... custom maxima.. What the hell is going on with all this? lol
