Who knows until someone really crash hard with a CF hood on the car? As far as I know, I haven't seen any pic of a wreck car with CF hood on.

 

who cares about what happens when u crash with CF hood i just what mine on my car that's it.

 

If the hood comes through your windshield instead of crumpling like the stock hood, you'll care.

 

Hopefully it will shatter before that due to the initial impact or on the windshield... I HOPE...

 

I think the likelyhood of the hood causing bodily injury is pretty low. I'd be more worried about other mods you do to your car, such as lowering it. Some of the larger SUVs and trucks these days are tall enough that they will go right over all the supports in a car, kinda like a monster truck. The accident I had with my first civic, if my car had been lowered, I'd probably be dead. The cherokee hit me head on, and the bottom part of its bumper JUST BARELY caught some significant chassis supports. Had my car been 2 inches lower, that cherokee would have gone right over the support, and probably decapitated me. I guess a CF hood could work as a guillotine, or having one could be the difference between your car absorbing the impact of the crash and you being ok or you dying from injuries because it didn't absorb enough impact, but the likelyhood of that is pretty small I'd say.

 

actually, since ive actually broken the 1st gen CF hood.. id say this would happen.

upon impact, the subframe of the hood would seperate from the actual cf hood. the cf hood will probably not go thru the windshield, since itll come off the frame.. if anything itll fly up perpendicular as the front gives then the rear. (assuming front end collision)

i think i still have pics of my frame seperating from the actual hood.

the weak parts are the hood latch area, and the 2 side mount areas. of course, the hood latch is gonna go first, and yer stuff is gonna fly up perpendicular. (blocking and shielding you from whoever flies thru their windshield at yours )

 

So do we have any updates on this killer or life saver hood.
It's probably to early ti know any thing but it would be cool if we knew whos was getting built and shipped so we know when we're next.

Mike just called me... The orders went through without a problem... He will try to call FiberImages and find out when the 1st of our hoods are ready... but he may have to wait on them... more to come as I find out.

just got e-mail from mike he said he put the order threw but u have to wait now so they can make the hood he had to pay them first then they can start making the hoods.

 

now that my car got hit.....the deals over ..... anyway to set up another deal for those of us that didn't get in....soon as i get the ins check ill order one...should be later this week or monday....

I can wait a month or tow for it ill just have a different color hood on it....steal it off my sisters car...lol

info wasn't included... that's why I asked to have those receiving them post.

I assume the priority they were ordered in? I don't know who is having them 'shipped'.. Perhaps he may have meant that some of those would be shipped to his place for those 'picking up'

 

I just got off the phone with Fiberimages. She said my hood (first on the list) shipped out yesterday. They said that my hood (first in line) and the 2nd hood (2nd on the list) shipped yesterday. They are shipping Central Global Express (WTF is that? ) and gave me a tracking number. I checked Central Global Expresses website, and confirmed that my hood is on the way. The last update has it at LAX, so it's definately on its way.


I was told the hoods are being made in order, so now that mine and the 2nd hood has gone out, they are working on the 3rd. Not too much longer now guys!!!

OT: Neal... Is the SFC deal still going? or is it $200 whenever?

 

My "list" was 'to the best of my knowledge' ... The ones after me are probably accurate but I'm not 100% sure of the order.

The GD said it was going til March 12th, but that has been extended. I assume they will keep that price until they decide otherwise??? I didn't really mention the group deal, I just called and said I wanted to check on the price of the SFC stages 1 and 2.

I ordered mine yesterday, the 21st, along with my test pipe. $200 for stages 1 and 2 plus $35 shipping. She didn't mention any timeframe for the $200 price.

 

they called me yesterday to confirm that the 2 SFC's i ordered are shipped ..

like 470ish shipped here.. theyre heavy.

I think ordering the SFC, Kevlar S/C belt and metal pulleys will do it for me... I gotta stop spending.. the modding never stops...

Now I have the CF hood, 3.25 pulley and raised rear strut mounts to do already. No time.

The shipping company called me, my hood arrives today between 10am and 12pm eastern time. Its 10am right now, so less than 2 hours to go! I'll tell you guys my impressions when it gets here.
