5th Gen Willwood Big Brake Kit anyone?

Hi guys, take a peek at this thread :
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hreadid=112430

You'll find pics of the 13" willwood big brake kit for 4th gen Maxes - the GD rate is at $800 for the entire kit; front 13" rotors, pads, calipers, steel braided lines, the works - I'm just wondering if there's enough people who would be interested so that we can get them to make a kit for our 5th gens - and a group deal on it as well

Post here and let's see if we can make this happen!

willwoods

Would this fit behind my 2k2 SE wheels. I use stock wheels for summer and dont't want to have to change brakes.

Good work on the post, one important note tho....its not a Wilwood kit, it uses Wilwood calipers but the kit is from Precision Brakes Company.

Re: brakes

Ok, we're at 3 + 1 tentative (depending on his wheel size)

Let's see how many more; it's been less than 24 hours, looks pretty encouraging thus far - I'll let this sit for a week to see if we can get double digits, then we'll call it a go from there

Just want to verify that we are talking about a front brake package only. I remember that the 4th gen packages were for the front. Everyone should be made aware of this just so there is no confusion. I'm also checking for my own personal assurance.

Absolutely correct - front rotors only. It's for all 5th gens - 2k through 2k2 and on.

Re: can i scam nissan?

Oh you've got a bit of time till the brakes are out, but if you want to do it quick, I figure mash repeatedly on the brakes about 50 times from 100mph or so to a full stop - without mercy. Repeat for a week. Do it on an empty highway late at night or something

Oh yes, and after every stop, be sure to keep your foot down on the pedal for a good 2-3 minutes while stopped, just to push that pad into your boiling hot rotor : it'll help groove nicely bwahaha.

The best way to kill rotors is get them real how from jaming your brakes in over and over again and then drive through a puddle of water or hose the rotors down with ice cold water. The extreme temperature change will do some damage after a few attempts I'm sure. You could also torque 3 of your lug nuts to 85 lb's and 2 at 20 lb's That will put more stress on half of the rotor and will also help worpage.

I have to say though, if you destroy your rotors ann take your car to nisan they won't just give you some cash, they will just fix the rotors.

If the price is right and the kit is quality stuff- i.e- no spacers, washers, etc, needed- then count me in for a 5thgen BIG BAD A** BRAKE kit!

Ask and you shall receive!!

I talked to Daryl tonight and since there is enough of a demand, they are going to build a kit. Please hold your questions until later, the kit is going to be in development for about 6-8 weeks, I'll have more answers for you guys then. It should be similar to my 4th Gen kit and will not use spacers or washers, they craft an adapter plate to mount the caliper to existing OE locations. The price should also be close to my 4th Gen at $999, and hopefully a group deal of $850 but again that is to be determind by P.B. when they build the kit. So I'm glad to say it should be ready soon!! Lets keep the list growing for peps that want a kit.

Are there any sacrifices from the Big brake? I know it offers better braking, and it's only for the front, but what are some of the drawbacks? I know you need larger rims than stock.

More expensive to replace rotors/pads and supposedly with OTHER Big Brake kits, increased brake pedal travel.

We'll know for certain once the R&D stages are through, but the primary goal is to maintain stock rims... at least in 17" form factor

Why would there be increased brake pedal travel?......
