Foglight rewire?

U know that the outside foglight turns on with the turn signal? Anyone know how you could rewire the outside foglight to turn on with the inner foglight? Also after doing that id like to rewire my fogs to turn on with my corner lights, anyone know how to do that?

very challenging... since it(turn lamp)works only when you turn "on" your park/head lights and only after that they will "turn on" when you use your turn signal...

i got shop manual so ill check it out...later

Here is a good write up of how to rewire your fogs...

Fog Light Rewire

However, if you want to leave the turn lamp on, just rewire it to the fogs when they are on...it shouldn't be that hard...just a simple splice into the fog lamp wire...

Hey all, I just completed my foglight rewire today, and it looks great. It takes less than an hour to do total job, and is quite simple despite the confusing-*** instructions floating around this forum. Heres what i did:

I pried open the relay box (passenger side) and located a PINK (not yellow like on maximas) wire with 2 horizontal silver stripes. This is located on the relay named "FR FOG LAMP"

Cut this wire, Tape off with electrical tape the end that comes from the car, and splice a wire about 1.5 feet or so to the other end (the end that comes from the relay box (blue thingy)).

This wire you spliced from the relay box now will be snaked down to your passenger side corner marker lens, tap it into the RED wire. (It may be helpful to remove the side marker and tap it close to the base of the bulb socket. There are only two wires here, pick the one that is red )

BAM! your done. See how easy?? I was scared poop-less to attempt this when i looked at other's instructions, but it really is simple - you are cutting a wire, sealing off one end, and tapping the other into another wire.

Hope this helps the people who were scared to try this in the past!

I used 18 gauge "hook-up" wire, and the wire taps i used were compatible from 14-18 gauge. Hope this helps.

Would this work?

If you want the outside corner lamps to come on with the fogs cant you just jump a wire from the foglight to the corner lamp?

Yeah, what i would do is connect them either to the fogs, or the sidemarker lenses, whichever is easier. However, i dont know if thats a good idea, as it may be annoying to other drivers, ie, too much light in their eyes, etc. I was actually thinking of doing the opposite, and disconnecting the cornering lights cause i dont like em, imo.

Steve,

I saw your post on rewiring fogs lights on the I30. I did exactly everything you mentioned, word for word. My fogs still turn on only when the headlights turn on. One other thing, the pink wire in my car doesn’t have two horizontal silver stripes. Instead it has little silver dots. Is this the same wire? It’s the only pink wire I see. I have a 2k I30t. Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Has anyone else successfully done this fog light rewire on their 2k I30?

Hey, maybe I can help ya.

It sounds like you didnt cut the pink wire... which may be why you cant get em to turn on without the headlights. You cut this wire, and tape off the end that comes from the car. The other end, from the relay box, taps into the positive (red) wire of the corner light. Are you sure you did that? Cause it should work... also double check that you are cutting and splicing from the right box on the relay - should be the one that says like, FR FOGS or somethin...and there should be three wires. Let me know how that works out, or if you forgot anything. I did this on my 01 i30, fyi.

Thanks for the promp reply. I will double check everything today after I get home from work. I'll let you know what I find out.

Thanks again

I know this has been run into the ground, but I just ordered a new I35 and was wondering of the rewire will work for it since it is not too far off from the I30? Even if the colored wires are different, they will still be in the same spots right? As long as I know what to look for I don't think it will be a problem. Thanks, Les

I double checked everything twice. I cut the only pink wire from the blue fog light relay. I made sure the end from the blue relay connects to the red wire from the side marker. Still does not work. Maybe on the 2k I30 it's a different wire? Now my ABS, TCS and SLIP lights on the dash come on and stay on. I hope I didn't screw anything up.

Hmm, im not sure what it could be. It was just how i said it when I did mine. As for the ABS, TCS, and SLIP lights, just reverse everything you did to try to get rid of them. I have no idea why the rewire isnt working. Id have to see it myself i guess. The wire with the silver stripes on it (on mine it was pink) was cut, the end from the car was taped off and secured, the one from the relay was snaked down to the corner marker light (side marker lense) and spliced into the red wire via 3m wire taps. Be sure you are working with only three wires from the relay, and they are the correct ones for the fogs. You are only running one wire with this rewire, which goes from the wire with the silver stripes (- - -) to the red wire of the sidemarkers. The other end of the striped wire (one from the car) gets taped off.
