Max tire size on a stock 15" wheel ?

I'm planning to replace my worn tires in my '96 I30 but I want to replace the current 205/65-15 with 215 or 225/65-15 if this is possible, any one know what's the max wide size that my car can accept with no problems ? I appreciate your answers !

Well you have 6" wide wheels. 215's are probably possible but I bet they won't be within spec, your tire will buldge out over the rim a little. 225's no way.

From 205-65-15, you would want to go Plus 0 which is 215-60-15 and that's the stock size for the I30t. You want to stay within the same diameter or your speedo will be way off. I think that 215's are the max you can go.

The Tire Calc on miata.net is a very good one and I use it all the time. Definitely, 225's won't fit. You'll need a 6.5"-7" wheel for that.
