Hey guys. I use Amsoil, anyone has any negative feedback on it ? or Prefer different oil? If so please reply... besides this can be very educational for all of us =)

I use amsoil too 0w30.

5w30 Mobil 1 since new. I used it even before I met my father-in-law who worked for Mobil for 30 years.

 

LeeinKY, u should re think that. You should try Amsoil. You will notice a difference in gas consumption as well as how quickly your car will warm up.

Mobil 1 synthetic with K&N oil filter every 3000-3500 miles .

 

AMSOIL :
FILTER = 12,500 or six months
Motor OIL: warrenty on each bottle: 25,000 or one year ( which ever comes first)

Also, difference between good filter and Amsoil filter is that:
avg filter cleans upto 40 microns
Amsoil filter cleans upto 7 microns

I know that AMSOIL has been used by a number of racers for many years and I have never heard any specific knocks against it. My biggest issue with it is that it is sold by many private individuals like Avon and often people feel the need to try to shove it down your throat regardless of your reasons why you use other brands.

 

Lee, i'm not sure how what i said looks like in your eyes. But i'm not trying to do shove it down anybodies throat. All i want to do is tell others what i know about it. Believe me i m not pushing it down anybodies anything. Simply because its not a good idea to use for all cars.

My mechanic says that you can go around 12,000 miles on mobil 1 synthetic. My oil is always still very clean when I change it. I just don't like taking unnecessary risks to save a few bucks.

 

His right. If you do some research on Motor Oil you will find: (if i m not mistaking in the name) Engine OIL BIBLE myths or not" or something like that. In any case... there they talk about how it's bull**** that you need to change your oil every 3000miles or 4500 for synthic. It can really go upto 7000-8000. Without any problems, keeping in mind that a side from your oil you really need a good filter. That is how i found out about AMSOIL my self. But MOBIL 1 is second best or one of the top's. In other words your mechanic is absolutly right as far as i know. But what MOBIL 1 doesn't give you is the quality of AMSOIL that's all. Keep in mind i m not putting it down, because i used to use it my self. Just that i like AMSOIL a bit better. But to each is own. Right? =)
