Opening 96 I30 taillights?

Hey guys. I just sold my 95 GLE, and I'm looking at this silver 96 I30 5 speed to buy. I've been going over the Cefiro parts to buy and I saw the red/clears for the 96 (I think). My question is, can you open these up (both inside and outer lights) so I can tint them lightly? As you know the search function isn't working right now.

Oh, this 96 isn't an I30t, so it doesn't have LSD right?

Thanks guys. I might become a regular in this (I30) forum in the next few days....

How do I clear my I30 tails & corners?
Tails
Go to www.Maximadriver.com and read the instructions on How to clear out the 97-98 Maxima tails. The prodcedure is exactly the same except that the I30 housing is held together with one screw and multiple clips. The clips must be pushed in with a small flat head screwdirver before the housing will seperate.
I have used the oven, heat-gun, hairdryer, and even the boiling water method for seperating the housing. They will all work but I perfer the heatgun. For those of you scared to melt the lens then use a hair dryer, but be prepared, it will take a real long time.

Thats from the FAQ. It says nothing about 96 tails, and if they're like the 95/96 Maxima tails, they can't be opened. Is this the same for the I30? Also, is it possible to open the part of the lights on the trunk lid? Thanks. Oh, and SYCefiro sells pre-cleared outer tails for a 96, right?

You can clear 96 I30 tails. They are not the same as 95-96 maxima tails.

you can clear out the 96-99 tails just like the 97-99 maxima tails.

The ones Sycefiro sells do look good, but upon closer inspection of them, the don't quite fit with the contours of the deck lid reflector trim plate thingy. There are some people who clear them out and do a really good job at them. I would suggest getting one of them to do it or help you with it if you haven't done it before. they are pricey to replace if you break the lens (which is eash to do).

I'll be at ToolRocks house Saturday morning to help him with an oil thingy, I'll ask him if we can add a 3rd party. It shouldn't take more than an hour to do your tails. a little longer depending on how you want them to look. But thats all stuff we can figure out while we are there. As far as the other tasks, I'm all for helping you with them. I'll PM you about saturday.
