Poll: Installing Springs - DIY or PAY?

Well, there it is. Do you install the springs yourself or do you pay someone to do it for ya? Lets hear what ya all think and any experiences you've had with both methods...

I feel redundant but DO IT YOURSELF. Like I30Mike I'm by no means am a full on mechanic, especially anything suspension related and I managed to do it without any experienced help. Took a bit of time but wasn't difficult at all. I actually just cut a coil off my rear springs on saturday. Took me about 45 minutes per wheel. Simple.

Do it yourself. I wouldn't call it a piece of cake, but fairly straight forward. Make sure you're at least a little bit mechanically apt. Make sure you use the right tools. Hate to strip bolts/nuts and/or hit yourself with a nut off the strut top going 60 mph! Ouch.

Too bad you're in NY. I'd be more than happy to help you w/ the install.

Depends I'd say. Have a friend help you is probably the best way to go. When you pay someone you never know what you are going to get (esp if you "got the hook up"). If you have no friends with experience or don't have access to tools paying someone might be your only option. I pretty much watched my buddy do all the work handing him tools as he needed. Now if I HAD to do the work myself I could if had the right tools.

What brought this back from the grave?

BTW - I know you already went the eibach route, but for anyone else - do it yourself. I did it for the first time myself. The second time was even easier.

Hey all, I havn't talked to you guys in a while!

The reason for this is because I have found a new board (yes, im cheating on max.org ). I must say the new format is killer! Good job!

BTW the new forum im on is my350z.com... guess why

Quick update: The I30 is back to stock, Eibachs Pro-Kit removed and for sale ($75 if anyone is interested). The I30 is soon to be traded in for a red or black (I cant decide!!) 6MT Performance 350Z coupe.

And to answer my own question from like a year ago:

I definately recommend doing it yourself. I learned alot about my car, and it was an overall straightforeward experience. My advice:

--Get air tools
--Get a good jack
--Get good jackstands
--Set aside a day to do this if its a first time.
--Make sure you have correct tools:
-Sockets
-Torque wrench (not crucial tho)
-Bandaids (you will probably scratch or bang
some part of you)

Good luck all, and be safe

-Steve
