Wow. I'm shocked and amazed. Is that a US car or from some other country. I was wondering how they got two double DIN units in there, and I realized that the ACC is not there.

thought you were trying to say that the car has Navi because it was built in Japan, as opposed to the rest of the I30's.

I doubt this thing could be installed easily into one of our regular I30s. There would be so much wiring involved, especially to integrate the ACC in there. Its unfortunate that Infiniti never sold these vehicles with the navi option...sometimes it just makes me wonder why they do stuff like this (exs: not including the AMB button when the electronics are there, giving us foggy headlamps on the 97s and old steering wheel even though the 97 maxes got the clear lights and updated wheels, etc. etc)

in the link to the epinions story, the guy said that he got the car with the navi thrown in for free? what the heck? I dont ever get that lucky...in fact, i think MOST people get ripped off moreso than they get lucky with extra stuff "thrown in for free."

Some time in 99 there was a run of i30 in numbers like 250 - 300 with nav sys they called "prototype" which where free of charge. More, if you have trouble whith it or some other reason, infinti now replaces them with regular once... no fee again.

OK, I just wanna ask the question that was asked before but never answered...has anyone heard anything about the pricing on one? or if it is even available somewhere? If we can find rare cefiro parts, I don't doubt we could find this navi system. If anyone has any info on pricing, other than the $2000 stated in that article, post it please. Thanks

I am pretty sure that this is a CD based nav and why would you want a cd based nav in your car in the first place? Aftermarket all the way!

are you all sure it is a prototype nav system? I have seen this same nav system used on japanese jdm nav systems all the way back to 94 I think....maybe they are more prevalent in japan and can be found there? if so i wonder what would be needed to make it usable here? upgrade the module and get a disc?

That is an Infiniti I30 (looks like 1999 model) with a 97-99 Infiniti Q45 Navigation system installed) or the Navigation systems from the QX4 or later model Pathfinder.

why 1999 Infiniti I30 (look at the Bose radio & the red needles on the speedometer).
And the Navigation is available on Q45/QX4/Pathfinder or JDM Cefiro/ Korean Samsung SM5... etc.

So if ya'll interested to have one installed like that....... look for a navigation system from Q45/Pathfinder/QX4. Because they have the Air condition control on the Navigation. And they are US spec Navigation systems

Simon, so what are you saying? Is it plug and play to get the nav unit from a QX4/Pathfinder/Q45? Would the climate control functions hook up without a prob?

All I30's have Auto Climate control, so the harness "SHOULD" hook up nicely (except for ambient temp not available on 96-97 I30's). The Din size should fit properly. However, You will have to get the trim place that woudl fit TWO Double Din.

I have NOT look into the Navigation system. But I thought the Q45/QX4/Pathfinder Navigation systems were DVD based. I am open to be wrong, it could be CD Rom based. If you look into the Q45 limited off 1999 brochure or the same year model Pathfinder/QX4, you will find that Navigation system.
