Has anyone done a swap on here before.
Ok here is my question. I have an automatic I30. The car is a damn beast for some reason. It pulls hard as hell all the time. I have ripped the crap out of numerous newer maximas, and other I30's. The mileage on the car is high also, but i don't know why the engine is soo strong.
The tranny on the other hand is starting to slip. I was wondering if anyone on here has ever done and ATX to MTX swap. I have done one on my Probe. It was fairly easy, kind of. I am really determined to go through with this swap, just curious if it has been done before so that i could be able to get some pointers.

1. Did the pedal assembly change, or just the cluch pedal was added?
2. Are there wires in the Auto I30 that will plug into a manual pedal assembly, or did you have to splice them? (I am talking about the start switch on the clutch, cruise control cutoff on the clutch)
3. Did you have to swap out the computers?
4. Is there an ATX tranny computer?
5. Is there a computer for the MTX, is has VLSD, so i assume that there is?
6. Is there a different brake fluid reservoir for the clutch master sylinder, or does the master sylinder have its own reservoir?
7. What mounts are different between the two transmisions?
8. Did you have to change the engine harness, if not, did you hard wire the neutral safety switch, reverse light switch, and was the VSS the same plug as on the ATX?
9. The center console changes, but does all the MTX stuff bolt up without modification? (shifter, linkage, etc....)
Answer as many questions as you can. Thanx in advance.

sorry for posting late, I dont read the I30 forum alot
1- pedal, just the clutch was added, you have to drill a hole in the firewall to install the pedal and master cyl.
2- the switches you have to run yourself and tap into the harness(not shure since I dont use cruise so I didnt bother)
3- it will work fine on an auto computer but you will get a bunch of tranny related codes and possibly have weird idle but its not a big deal. I swapped in a manual ECU since I had one avaliable.
4- yes theres a computer for the auto tranny and its in the dash behind your ash tray.
5- the MTX has no tranny ecu and the VLSD is all mechanically controlled in your differential.
6- master cyl has its own resovoir
7- just the tranny mount is different, theres only 1 tranny mount.
8- you can keep the same harness. you will just have to jump a couple connectors to hook up the reverse lights
9- shifter, rods and everything bolts right up, you will need a new dash trim so you can put a shift boot on since the auto trim is snaller(just cosmetic reasons)
the only thing that needs custom work is drilling the hole in the firewall for the clutch pedal and master cyl, everything else is bolt on

Did you have to use new axles, and new intermediate shaft?

part#'s for the drivers side axle for non LSD auto/5speed is the same but if I were to put in a LSD tranny then I would have to buy both LSD axles since LSD requires different type of axle.
I think you will just need the passanger side if your auto is already LSD.

Yea i figured that would be the case. No problem, thanx for the help. I out looking for a 5spd infinity now, and i will start on the project. I hope you don't mind me posting more questions if I hit a dead end or something.

opps, I messed up on my last post about the axles,
correction is that for a NON-LSD tranny, the passanger side axle is the SAME For auto and MTX. The Drivers side is whats different.
also-dont forget that a car with ABS brakes requires a ABS specific axle so the sensor will work
