How low can i go ???

Hi to all of my INFINITERS. I had a question .
I wanna lower my car ,what is the best looking drop for this car, safest.
Do you guys recomend going with sprint springs and struts?
What would be the best setup?

On 19"s with sprints, it will be a parking lot queen that will be too rarsh to drive on most PA roads. Try Eibachs, H&Rs, Intrax, or maybe the new Teins.

Adjustable struts are a good idea (Tokico Illuminas are good ones, and a lot of guys run KYB AGX).

Tokico has an all-in-one setup w/ springs and struts, as well.

Sprints are very low and very harsh, as springs sgo for the max/i30.

Some people like them, but on 19"s you are asking for trouble.

If you can afford 19" Lorinsers, maybe you should consider a nice coilover setup.

Ive heard they can be set to be pretty comfortable, but when you want to go low, you can go allll the way.

Just a thought.

Sprints with AGXs on Philly roads are not too bad. It's bearable but you do have to watch out for pot holes. Sprints are stiff and with 19" you are going to get a hell of a bumpy ride... I ride on stock 15" with my setup and "feel" every bump. If you are set on going low but can't afford a full coilover setup, Sprints are the way to go, but I would advise you to get Illuminas, which there's a good group deal on them now (or Konis , and not the AGXs. Also, your lower front bumper and cat will scrape on some philly roads. depends on where you are. I don't even care about scraping anymore... hehe

yeah. that's cool. hit me up with a pm when something happens. maybe something with Jersey too? just an idea.

pd.

oh, another thing. if u r auto, i "highly" advise you to cut the rear Sprint springs. At most I recommend cutting 1 coil only... else the spring won't have any compression when mounted on the shocks and could potentially move out of place when the car is lifted.

if you care at all about ride quality you wont get sprints with 19's. H&R, progress, or maybe Eibachs. If you want to do it right get JIC or Tein coilovers

Exactly what benefit are you saying that he will have if he cuts a set of Sprints?

Please stop typing in all caps.

Teins are about $135 for S-Techs and $165 for H-Techs.

Don't cut the set Sprints, just the rear two. I initially installed them out of the box and 1. it leaves the rear noticeably higher than the front and 2. the ride is stiffer (prob because all of the weight is directed towards the front because the rear is higher plus weight of engine). Three months later, I decided to get a coil cut off the rears and it evens the height a bit (the rears are still slightly higher, but not very noticeable, maybe 1/8 inch or so) and ride quality increased. I'm not a suspension expert, but there was definite a noticeable decrease in bumpiness by me and friends who ride in my car. This is not to say you won't be bumpy because you sure will. Too bad Teins weren't available at the time, else I'd consider those.

Again, this is just "my" feedback based on my experience. You're actual experience may vary.

While I normally run around saying "never cut springs!' you seem to have a logical reason for what you are advocating. It makes much more sense the way that you explained it. I have never heard of another spring type being higher in the rear, but I also have not bothered to learn much about Sprints.

Carry on, fellas, carry on...

Paired w/ AGX...Ride is more stiff than my old H&Rs, but the handling is improved at the same time.

Is it auto or manual? You will have 18"s right? How much are you looking to spend on the suspension setup? It is going to be $500 (give or take) to do it right.

That will be a sweet setup. One peice of advice- CHANGE YOUR STRUT BEARINGS! If you do not, you will regret it down the road.

Anyone know anywhere I can get a deal like that?
Or anyone have any reccomendations?

I am putting my i30 on chrome 18"s, if I can get the H&K's and the AGX's I think I'll cream my pants.

I'll guess I'll be searching the forums...

Thanks.

When you turn the wheels, all components in the strut assembly turn with them. The strut bearing allows the components to turn freely. With work or faulty strut bearings, the springs "wind up" and bind as they are turned. This makes noise and is really annoying. The person who owned the car before me did NOT replace the bearings, and now I am left to replace them, which is a pain in the butt.

If you plan to keep your car, and if it has more than abotu 35K on it, replace the strut bearings.

If it is shorter in height, it will be more difficult to move the shifter (simple physics). It will look cooler and will be out of the way, but if you have a drink in the cupholder, it will be more difficult to actually shift because the cup may be in the way.
