My mom just gave me her 96 I30t. I know these cars are sweet. But the car has 167,000 miles on it. I wanted to know what are soemthings that I can do to help keep the performance level up, and try to reach at least 250,000 miles.

from all my reading here, it seems that nissan engines should have no problems reaching at least 200,000 mi as long as the maintanence was done in a timely manner.

It's true, take care of them, change their fluids on a regular basis and they'll never die. My car has 167,895 on it and the motor still runs like a champ.

I have a 96 I30 as well and it has around 145K on it. This thing runs like a brand new car! I have not had any problems with it so far. In fact, this past weekend I just went and ahd all the fludids flushed and replenished so I should be good to go for a long time!

In my opinion, if you take care of your car it will take care of you ya know?

Enjoy it!

Just my luck. My mom had been running on a CEL for a while, so I checked it today, and it was 0707 Rear Heated O2, and 0304 Knock Sensor. Not a good start to my day. But I am almost positive the O2 sensors was changed by the dealer not to long ago, so i have to check the reciepts. Anyways does performance suffer with these sensors malfunctioning?

Knock sensor will hurt performance but the o2 sensor will not.
