I35 shifter on I30

I want the wood grain shifter from the I35, but I have an I30. How can I leave the overdrive on and install the wood shifter?

I still want to know if I could modify and install the entire I35 gated shifter. I was asking if someone could take a picture of the shift linkage under the console so I could compair and see if it could be done without too much work. I am almost certain it is the same tranny.

As for just replacing the stick. You probably would lose O/D off unless you hooked up a button to the dash or something. Even then I think it would be too much work and not look very good.

Do a search on Maxima automatic shift *****. I know there are some aftermarket ones, but the ones I have seen dont look very good.

I dont know if this is what you ment, but if you did replace the shifter, the overdrive would always be on. You just wouldent be able to turn it off.

I have seen a few (with the O/D) that looked ok, but when installed they looked really bad because they were WAAAY too tall.

I could live with that. I have been driving with the O/D on without problems or need to switch it off. So basically make sure the O/D is on before I install the wood shifter?

o/d turns back on when you start the car so its automatically going to stay on all the time.
