Black Plastic thing that holds front license plate...

I live in a state (Kentucky) where front license plates aren't required so I threw my black plastic frame away a long time ago. Now I'm thinking about getting a front license plate... something like this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...253561466&rd=1

And I was wondering if I need to buy a new black plastic thing or if it was not necessary.

On my '96 I took my front bracket off, too, so now the only screw holes are deep in the gap between the rails. How would you attach the plate to those without the bracket?

That's what I needed to know... I didn't know if the mount holes were still out in front, on the bumper or if they were deep in those rails. Wanna sell me your bracket? That was stupid of me to throw it away :/ I bet the Infiniti stealership charges about $50 for that stupid piece of plastic.

I ran into this problem when I got a ticket for no front plate. there is not a good way to put on a front plate without the factory black frame. You can just screw it on there, but it looks cheesy as hell. I ended up paying the $45 at the dealer for a new one.

I see. What about the "mini" plates I see on ebay? the ones that are only 4" high instead of 8" or whatever... if I put the black plastic holder again, won't half of the black plastic be showing when I put a mini plate on?

I actually tossed the black plastic thingy and then ended up needing it due to laws and all in VA. UGH! I ended up screwing the screws into the front bumper unter neath the silver trim. No one knows but me! shhhh. It looks fine and it was FREE!!!!!!!!!!

Already sold mine to a .org member. No fromt plate needed in AL. As for the mini plate issue. It may be possible to use a jig saw and cut one in half. Not sure though. I don't remember what it looked like. I would think if you could cut it so the bottom of the tag was lower than the bracket it might be ok. I have no idea if this will even work, just an idea.
