1999 Infiniti I30t question
1999 Infiniti I30t question
Does it have same iginition coil problems like the 1999 Maxima do. I know this is a dumb question because it is the same engine but I had too.
Because I have been driving 1999 I30t it my Moms car(borrowing it for awhile) around for a while now and it seems to hesitate/backfire a little when I am sitting at a light. This sort of happen too when I am kind of approaching an intersection that I have to stop at.
Plus it seems to not have any power when I have the A/C and push hard on it.
The car is stock, automatic with 44k. No check engine light comes on.

The coil pack could be a problem in the I30 as much as the max. Is there miss when driving? Is the idle low? I would check the codes even with the absense of a CEL. General maintainence been done?

even though my car is a 97, i am experiencing rough idles and variable idles in drive or reverse only (not in neutral or park), and have been wondering what the culprit was for years...still havent figured it out yet. what else could be the problem? i have had teh major service intervals performed, but with the faulty dealer services these days, who knows whether or not my spark plugs were really changed. Is there any way to diagnose these things with a multimeter? anyone have a link they can point me to for this info (diagnosing the ignition system components). My egr valve, TB, IACV, etc have been cleaned and seem to be in working order, that is why I am turning to the ignition system as a possible culprit to my continuing problems.
Yes, a multimeter can be used to check the the coil packs, but it does not seem to be the most accurate method. I had a coil pack giving me problems a while back and it wojld check out OK with a multimeter and other times it wouldn't.

Mine went away for awhile... Well I had to get one replaced because I couldnt take the knockin. One has a slight problem, but it comes and goes.... I need to go find a used one and change it!
